We can't even cleanup an oil spill 20 yards off the West Coast of New Providence and somehow we're supposed to believe some foreigners will safely and responsibly drill test wells in a remote section of The Bahamas that very few of us have ever seen/visited/flown over. I'm seeing a distance of 100-160 miles SW of New Providence, in pristine water near the tongue of the ocean...
Seems like a quick $200,000 for the treasury, let's get to it. Wish the article would have expanded on what exactly would happen after the delinquent list is sent to the AG on July 3rd. They said what the possible punishments could be, but didn't actually say what they would do about persons on the list.
lol he said we have a choice, not "oh yes prices should be decreasing as of April 2018, once we're sure of the license decrease" ............"We also have a choice. That goes back to the bottom line, or we share it with consumers to give them better prices. It will be a biggee, because if you're having a bad year that could be your profit."
Also screwed up here, think it should be unless he is able: K P Turnquest, the minister of finance, revealed that Bahamasair's subsidy could increase beyond the budgeted $14.9 million unless Dionisio D'Aguilar, minister of tourism, was unable to successfully "intervene" with the ATR planes' financier.
"...as a matter of fact, it may be interesting to note, that I didn't recognise that was in there until I was reading it," Mr Turnquest said. . . Interesting indeed Sir, interesting indeed.
Would like to see something substantial done to the dump but realistically where else is the dump supposed to go? Andros to make it across 30 miles of deep ocean with winter swell reaching 8 ft? Rose Island? Eleuthera? Beautifully clear waters of Exuma? Manmade island on top of Stuart Cove's Shark Dive Site behind Nassau? I think moving garbage via a boat is a recipe for disaster, especially considering the standards we seem to keep.
I guess these gents will have to wait even longer - http://www.tribune242.com/news/2017/may… . Would like to see them at least get an interim contract as we wait for yet **another** round of studies to be completed before further proposals are welcomed again. Only God knows how long that process will take, and the dump is like a ticking time bomb. Not to mention the previous govt's signed commitments with Bahamar to having dump remediation by **Dec 31 2017**...
Crazy that they're trying that around the beaches etc. I heard plenty of rumors online about the severity of the attack, still doesn't sound like anyone knows for sure. Heard hand off, arm off, and arm just scratched with the sandpaper skin of the shark.
Agreed. I would think people may be clamoring in the hopes that the govt would rush to quiet them and just pay the bill, but they may end up finding 200 out of 400 million is for unfinished work, supplies that aren't even in the country etc.
