Quite brazen sir. On a real note, the PLP is blamed for last minute surprises before election, but it sure seems like PM Minnis won't be instituting the PM term limits until he feels like he's had his fair share. In reality they will probably set the max to 2 or 3 terms and he's only at 2 thirds or so into his 1st term but if you said you would do something, and ran on it, then do it.
RFP available online says : "used on RBDF craft and in the field with options for water retrieval if failure occurs" also 20 Very Low Cost Close Range UAVs that have a range of 10 km, endurance time of 20 to 45 minutes and underwater capability options. So I guess it depends on how realistic the RFP was and if it was followed to earn the contract....
The RFP available online said it should've been 6 Short Range, 24 Close Range, 20 Very low cost Close Range, and 5 Tethered Drones. Just search Bahamas drone RFP in da google.
*“I really don’t have a number on what we’ve received financially for the Hurricane Dorian efforts right available to me but you know it has been a very significant amount* - But if you did a Jan-Dec analysis of donations you'll probably find the $$ are up over 20%.. Yes there were international donors for Dorian but there were many local donors as well, I would imagine they'd have an idea of a statistical ceiling of expected local donations per year.
Basically businesses in GB and Abaco were forced into unclear compliance on Dec 1st. If you didn't sell your goods VAT Free you would be called out and lambasted on Social Media for charging VAT. I got the overall feeling that there was little concern that system administrators would have to configure hundreds maybe thousands of inventory items before Dec 1st. Not 3 days after Dec 1st... Also the person in the article is wrong, it is not every product sold from a retail store that is VAT Free.
Yet every other business must bend and break when it comes to short-notice VAT changes, altering their P.O.S, accounting and inventory systems at the drop of a hat. I think the breadbasket change last year was 3 weeks notice, the new GB and Abaco VAT changes less notice.
So did anyone reach out to Allscripts other than the Tribune? :) Maybe the govt should ask them to outline the work they've spent to earn $8 million? Or have we been blindly paying licensing costs for something we aren't even using?
I thought there were already issues with the grid and transmission lines? How can you communicate back and forth with BPL if the power lines are garbage? It's one thing for BTC top-up to go down, but you gonna tell me "our smart meter system is experiencing technical difficulties" and I can't power my house? Seems like a bad idea, we aren't ready for that. Added expense for BPL, added complication for both parties, and we have too poor of an infrastructure for this.
Yet the Freedom of Information Act is still just sitting on someone's desk catching dust. Not sure it would matter in this regard but it's still the fact of the matter - if we talk like we want to do better then let's do better; instead we just store these issues away in our playbook to whip out the next time the PLP accuses the FNM and vice versa.
So the wildcat well will be plugged and capped after 60 days? Even if they find millions of gallons of oil? Again I ask if the government, BEST commission, Ministry of Environment, someone is mandating for funds to be set aside for cleanup or underwater well repair if needed. Insurance? Responsible parties?
