Well_mudda_take_sic1 day, if you feel that way then you are part of the problem! Haitian did not create the problem because they don't make laws in the country or has a monopoly on the business sector. This is the issue we have today Bahamians can never see past blaming everyone but themselves for the way the downward spiral of the country.
I agree with you 100%! Unfortunately, most Bahamians don't see it the same way. This party system is killing the country. There are countries smaller than the Bahamas striving by leaps and bounds. Singapore is one, Iceland is another and Australia is yet another, so why is The Bahamas struggling to progress?
"Have we stopped to think how the average standard of living has plummeted in the last half-century? We would be fooling ourselves if we believe Symonette is solely to blame. Rather, we should all replace the political kool-aid with some truth serum and realise we were duped by many of our black leaders. While the Pindling-led government that defeated the UBP executed a memorable feat, how has life changed for common Bahamians?"
The stood out to me and spoke volumes. As a black Bahamian I've said time and time again we have become like our American counterparts in blaming everyone for their misfortune but themselves. We have traded the white masters for black masters and still blaming the white masters for all that's wrong with the country. Let's not forget that the "Conchy Joes" landed in The Bahamas before slaves were brought over, however, Pindling has ingrained in the Bahamian people that white peopler are opressors and blacks (majority) rule.
They are concerned about the BRUT force used by American law enforcement officers. But do nothing when the same or even worse happen home at the hands of Police and immigration officers? Shame on the PLP for trying to gain points at the expense of this your man. I'm sure his family is well on their way to see that these officers are punished to the full extent of state law. NO Bahamian law! I smell a lawsuit coming!
This report is about the prison conditions in The Bahamas and the inhuman treatment of our people, The Bahamian people. Many of whom I might add are innocent. The justice system in the Bahamas is corrupt, the civil service is corrupt, our politicians are corrupt but instead of calling for reform. You attack America! Firstly, America does not run on the tourist dollar, secondly what happens in America stays in America, any country comes for them they have the forces to fight back and remain unscathed. The Bahamas cannot say the say, hell we can't even feed ourselves so we should be the last to toss stones.
Insulting America is like fighting a tiger with a stick. You won't win, all they have to do is slam one embargo on The Bahamas and let me see how many of you will sing and dance for your supper.
The Bahamas needs reform across the board. Period!!
I agree, if you're going to come in defence of your country with data, you have to give the source. I also agree with you that no way there were only 49 rapes in The Bahamas in 2017. There's more marital rape than that or are they only counting the ones reported by Tourist.
On top of what everyone else mentioned above. Had the discussion while watching online with my daughter, ZNS commercials ran on forever. I think the groups are too large, which makes intermission is too long and the parade starts too late. It was good to start Junkanoo at midnight when the groups weren't so massive. I don't really enjoy watching the parade during the daytime because it takes away a lot of the ambience, you don't see all the glitz of the tricks on costumes.
What children being born out of wedlock have to do with it. My brothers and I were born out of wedlock and you don't see us running around chappin up no one.

I hope this also bring reform to the Immigration Department in The Bahamas. Who are just as bad if not worse than the Police Department.
