PS: the ocean current flowing under the Potters Cay bridge is enough to create significant electricity. Because the area is already mostly enclosed, the financial outlay will be minimal. And the power station can be designed in such a way so as to be a tourist attraction.
The problem is government changes every five years and there is no way to force new governments to follow plans that are left in place. In face many stop and cancel plans they already meet in action. And that is why progress and development is so slow in this country. When I was in college the college had a mission statement, short term plans mid range and long term goals. They had maps as what the campus was expected to look like in 20, 30 and 50 years. What their student enrollment was expected to be and the make up of the student body. These plans could only be changed by the board of trustees. New presidents or administrations coming to the school had to follow the schools plans. Anyone not making progress towards achieving them or going contrary to those goals were terminated. There needs to be a board of trustees ( local government) for New Providence and as is in major family islands. They will be responsible for setting out the plans and goals for the growth and development of the island and will political interference will not be allowed. Las Vegas has a 10 year plan to make all energy renewable in the state of Nevada in 20 years. Solar, wind, water and all proven sources or renewable energy will be utilized. What plans are there for renewable energy for New Providence and the Family Islands? Except someone hopes it happens one day.
There was a video circulating on social media where a police on Miami Beach was walking up on spring with a police dog and forcing them to walk in another direction. So this one guy comes up and says he’s not afraid of the dog and continues walking. The police grabs the young man by the neck and forcefully wrestled him to the ground and continues assaulting him. Then the dog joins in. But instead of attacking the student, who is on the ground, the dog bites the wicked and aggressive police who is now on top of the young man with his knee in his chest. The dog bites the policeman’s arm and refuses to let go until other police arrive. . . the point: one day these young men ( not those who are already dead) will wake up and realize they are killing the wrong people. Despite the so called ‘gangs’ they are attacking their brothers and family and friends. Fellow Bahamians and brothers in the same struggle. And like that well trained dog who turned on his police handler, these young men will go after the ones who armed them and sent them to kill their own people. Those who conditioned them and taught them to kill without feelings or emotions. And many will be shocked to see what will happen. But it will be too late to call your own ‘Dawgs’ off!
The focus may move more to Long Covid in the near future. Persons who continue to experience symptoms of Covid long after recovery from the disease. These include shortness of breath, mind fog or confusion, depression, lost of taste or smell, hair loss, impotence, Erectile dysfunction difficulty with speech and dozens of other symptoms. Exactly how long these symptoms last is unclear but experts believe the virus goes deep internet the body and internal organs. Including the kidney and liver and in the prostrate and testicles in males.
This is the longest this country and yes, the world has remained near zero ( single digits per 10,000 population) since November 2020. And most definitely this is the longest and closest the world has been near to normal, since the pandemic began. Most economies are near fully open and many restrictions have been relaxed. Some will argue that if the US had don a better job of imposing Covid restrictions and also enforcing them, that would have had a significant positive effect on the pandemic. And while this is time to take a break and breathe a sigh of relief, it is by no means that me to throw caution to the wind. Concern is now being directed to food availability and food security as there has been an outbreak of bird flu and many chickens had to be removed from the food supply.
meanwhile in The US ‘ House Passes Bill to Decriminalize Marijuana The legislation, which faces an uncertain outlook in the Senate, would also establish a process to expunge prior marijuana-related convictions.’ if passed at the federal level this would mean that marijuana will be completely legal across the USA and many ( mostly Blacks) who spent years in prison for even small amounts of marijuana will have those criminal records expunged. This will leave this country with little choice but to follow suit with similar legalization legislation. And the $10,000 license for a marijuana license is out the window. License fees will have to be in the range of liquor licenses and most likely based on turnover.
MUNROE was pointing out that there was a reason for reclassifying ‘consensual’ sex with an underage person as being different from non consensual or forced rape. And people got all hit around the collar because he pointed out that the law considers sex with a minor a lesser crime than rape and so the penalties are less harsh. . . . As for raising the age of consent to eighteen: ‘* While the general ages of consent are now set between 16 and 18 in all U.S. states, the age of consent has widely varied across the country in the past. In 1880, the ages of consent were set at 10 or 12 in most states, with the exception of Delaware where it was 7*’. . Be minded that many people complete high school at the age of sixteen. After that if they don’t go to college, 16 becomes the age of adulthood and responsibility where the individual must find a job and enter the workforce. And they also start doing grown people stuff. So will moving the age of consent to 18 mean that more people in the 16-17 age bracket will find themselves before the courts for unlawful sex AND get a criminal record that will follow them for the rest of the lives? Preventing them from traveling and job opportunities? .
. . And those that go colleg. Many will go to the US and Canada. They will live in dormitories or apartments where th will be mostly responsible for themselves. And, for many, sex is a part of college life. So Will increasing the age to 18 open a bigger can of worms when it has been determined that young people are highly sexually charged.
