all bahamians need to protest their level of taxation in this country. The cruise are getting bigger and bigger and come here operating dozens of businesses on board, including bars, casinos, hotels, parks, night clubs and more. As more amenities are offered on board less money is spent by passengers in the local economy. But what is government doing to ensure they are collecting a reasonable and fair share of taxes? In fact taxes on Bahamians should be being reduced and those visiting this country should be paying and be expected to pay more.

When there were certain head teachers at C R Walker and RM Bailey high schools and some others, the students from these schools were not known to be getting into problems or engaging in antisocial behavior. There was strict enforcement of school rules and the academic performance of these schools were above average. Then C C Sweeting use to be known as the ‘black sheep’ of public schools. Not only were their grades below average, but the schools athletic performance was also mostly lackluster. Non winning mostly and rowdy. And then some new teachers went to that school and revived its sports program. CC win several championships and were in the rankings for several others. Not only did this motivate students to become more involved in athletics but the school’s academic performance 🎭 ncreased and student’s involvement in antisocial behavior faded.

What is more urgently needed is schools other than police officers is a male presence. This has been recommended for years. Put retiring or retired police officers in schools not on security details but to interact with students. They can teach classes like , Health and Safety, Public Safety , Drivers Education ( if only the the theory) and other classes where they can get to know the students and identify ones who may become problematic and need further intervention. And they will give confidence to the female teachers and also back up police officers if necessary. Social scientists will tell you that a byproduct of a female dominated society or environment (school campus) is a rebellious male. Not necessarily because he wants to be a problem but it’s because of his nature that he will challenge authority. And the more he can get away with, the more he will challenge. Young girls do the same thing but in a more subtle way. And there will always be conflicts. The idea is to have resolutions that are not fatal or involve injuries. The children been locked down for two years and their wild sides are feeling freedom. But they must know laws still exist and there are consequences for bad or violent behavior.

Yes the retailers are the first line of defense in any economy. And, unfortunately, retailers in the Bahamian economy have been priced out of the market long time. It appears that those in government believe the only way to raise revenue or increase it is to raise taxes. But the reverse is true. When taxes are to high, it stagnates the economy because consumers realize they are not getting value for dollar and their confidence is low. They only purchase essential items. And people try to find ways to avoid taxes. So only the tax dodgers are able to survive or, at least make a profit and so businesses that are at trying to pay some taxes are forced out the market. And government will eventually see a revenue decline because the businesses left in operation are barely paying taxes. There use to be many people coming from islands of the Caribbean, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad, Turks and Cacios, Dominican. To this country. And since many couldn’t get a visa to travel to the US, they would shop here. But after government put the VAT on top of Customs Duties, a lot of that cut out. Because they say when they buy the things here and take it back home and have to pay more vat or more duty it not worth it. So by being hoggish, the government should down an economy that included several different countries. Economic idiots.

Two sides to every coin. The US is saying Ukrainians and going to Mexico and trying to sneak across the border into the US. But reports coming out of Poland say Ukrainians are refusing offers to be sent to the US as Refugees because they still view America as the enemy ever since the Ukraine was a part of the Soviet Union and the Cold War was going on. Another problem is Ukrainians fear not being able to leave the US and return home once the war is done. The relevance is the white population in the US is dwindling whilst brown and black populations are increasing. In fact, Hispanics are expected to be the majority race in the US within ten years and Blacks will be number two in twenty years putting the white folks at the bottom of the totem pole. So there is a great drive underway to import more white people into America to prevent this from happening. And at the same time to reduce the number of Blacks either entering the US or reproducing there. And, of course, it spills over to The Bahamas and to The Caribbean.
