Should have been at least $30million fine paid to The Bahamas government. Carnival is a blatant and repeat offender who app so does not intend to mend its ways. The benefits of breaking the laws far outweigh the fines levied against Carnival, when they are caught and fined. And local fishermen have confirmed that the quality of all seafood ,including conch and lobster, had improved tremendously during the two year absence of crud ships.

Several years ago, a vet ( who is now deceased) Saipan ‘vicious dogs don’t protect anyone. They do more harm than good because the owners eventually lose control of them and then they always end up attacking the wrong people or other pets .’ He went on to say ‘. If you want a great guard dog, don’t train him to be vicious, but treat him as part of the family. Don’t alway keep him chained or locked up but allow him to move about your home and yard. He will learn who is family and friends and who is a threat. And you will always be in control of him.

How many times do IDIOTS have to be told that, ‘you cannot tax yourself out of a financial crisis?’ Are Bahamians now being punished for the financial fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic? Haven’t most ( except the chosen few$ Bahamians and Bahamian businesses suffered just as much loss of income and revenue as has government? Aren’t they also in recovery and even survival mode? Doesn’t Angry Simon or Mad Halkitis realize that imposing additional taxes on Bahamians or increasing taxes too soon can WORSEN the government’s position, rather than improving it and quickly create a stagnant Economy? Consumers are already faced with what can soon become runaway inflation. Meaning the higher prices on food, gas buiIding materials and other consumer goods is eating away the purchasing power Of the average consumer. Increased taxes will reduce the purchasing power even more, so government revenue will decline! Consumers confidence will decrease and so will consumption. But, if on the other hand, government were to reduce taxes, at least amount equivalent to inflation, at least in the short term, consumers would be able to maintain their purchasing power and continue to shop at pre-inflation levels. In fact consumer confidence will increase and so will spending. The cost of living will go down slightly and government will realize additional revenue. And as inflation levels off government can then increase taxes. BUT if the country goes into a booming economy, increased taxes may not be necessary, That is basically what Trump did.

There are at least two problems this government and Bahamian people face with the Pandemic: firstly the government was too quick to remove too many of the restrictions and make things appear too normal. Just look around. In New Providence especially. Gridlock traffic basically all day, everyday. People are about their normal lives. In strong comparison to when Minnis was the incompetent authority. And when one compares the number of cases and the level of activity now compared to when Minnis had the country locked down, except for lovers and friends. Can you see which is better?

Secondly: A lot of people who get Omicron do not appear sick and they do not feel sick. In fact they only found out they had the virus because they had to get tested for work or travel or some other reason. So they are not staying home, some still go to work if they can. AND some virologist think this is a good thing, especially since they believe everyone on the planet will eventually get omicron. And those who get vaccinated or take booster shots will get reinfected. According yo reports from the US some have already been infected two and three times. Even four times. Yet they are pushing the vaccines still.

now add to the MIX: Chirren are out and about. Schools are open and children loves the freedom. Many walk to and from school. But some children were living in homes where ALL the adults were infected with Covid. But NONE of the chirren got sick. Why do they want you to vaccinate your children?

Actually outright lies by persons driving for vaccinations. In South Africa where the Omicron variants began, the number of new infections, hospitalizations and deaths continue to decline. A top virologist there says the best thing to do with omicron is to stop taking vaccines. Boost your immune system and once you get infected and recover you will have a stronger natural immune system, but O, Pfizer says it is developing a vaccine specifically for Omicron. The vaccine will be available in a few months. My bet is omicron will not be around in a few months.

Some are content with kicking the BPL ball further and further down the field. But unless and until BPL changes it’s fuel mix to include renewables and finds the funds to complete (or continue) upgrading its power plants and its distribution network, the dark cloud of uncertainty still looms. BPL must also get in to power management in addition to its power generation and distribution. Each building on Nee Providence shoul have solar panels that can provide basic energy needs and some that can sell power back to the grid. Economics has proven that a large number of small producers supplying energy over a network is more than one company trying to produce it all.

Then severe substance abuse must be added to the mix

And the full fallout is yet to come. There will be many nmire ‘basket cases’ as the psychological overload will tax many beyond sanitity.. And yes, the church must have its day and it must play it’s important role in bringing back some sense of sanity and calm. Be a candle in a dark tunnel. Realize too, that many young men( and women) spent a lot of their curfew and lockdown time playing violent video games and watching violent movies. Some have no sense of hope or direction

Belinda Wilson gets her power and popularity by holding the government at its most delicate parts. Do not believe for a minute she has the welfare of the school children at heart. It’s all about power for her. At this juncture some efforts must be made to bring the children back into the classroom. There may be missteps and errors but the school environment is pretty safe, especially on the family islands. And in less populated islands teachers can enhance and make classroom learning even better by holding some classes outdoors or incorporating outdoors experience with the classroom. Two years is a long time for some students to be without any learning.
