The real facts are that VAT was originally supposed to replace customs duties and stamp tax. VAT was supposed to be at 15% and customs duties and stamp tax totally done away with. But the christie government, after seeing how much additional revenue they raised, decided to keep both VAT and customs duties. Yes, in the short term, this was great for government. But it drove up the cost of living, especially for Bahamians and it stifled the economy in the long run. And it made customs clearance more complicated and more expensive because with just VAT it would have been 15% on everything across the board. Just Click and Clear. But there are still hundreds of tariffs and headings and customs brokerage is still an unnecessarily tedious job. And ALL governments subsequent to Christie continue to hold on to customs duties, not realizing how much it is stifling the economy. If the amount of duties government collects was allowed into the economy as consumption and investment and a there was only a single, simple 15% VAT, not only will government realize more revenue, but the cost of living in the country would decline by at least 20 percent and so would the misery level. Less people would require government assistance and employment levels will increase. And there would be no need for a significant increase in the minimum wage.
So they claim the first case of the Omnicon virus has hit the United States. A man who recently travelled from South Africa to California tested positive for the virus. He was fully vaccinated and only showed mild symptoms of the disease. but a doctor in south africa says she doesn’t see what all the hype about the ‘new’ Omnicon strain is about. NO ONE in South Africa is seriously ill with the strain and NO ONE is hospitalized. OK THEN, the hype is about the vaccines! The ultimate in fear mongering. Dr Fauci went as far to say, ‘ It’s not a new strain, it’s actually a brand new virus.’ South Africa is only 30 percent vaccinated. No one is seriously ill, no one is hospitalized and no one has died from Omnicon. The more pressure they place on the public to take vaccines, the greater the resistance will become. Especially after viral experts and saying the vaccines are being misused. They claim that there should never have been an effort to vaccinate everyone. And persons who got the virus and fully recovered should not be vaccinated. But persons in the US are being terminated from their jobs for not getting the vaccines,
Does the government have a crime fighting plan in place for the holidays? Both individuals and local businesses claim they have seen a spike in armed robberies and they expect it to worsen as the holidays approach. To make matters worse, many of these crimes are happening in broad daylight and in populated areas.
Once you get the clear understanding that the PM or leader of the party is not always the one driving the bus, you will not be too disappointed in any future party leaders or prime ministers. Whilst it may be the leader or pm sitting behind the wheel, it is those who but gas in the tank that mostly determine where the bus goes and which route it takes. And the more weaker a leader or pm is and the more a puppet he is will determine how much the bus goes off (his) course and end up in a train wreck not unlike Minnis. And from the time of Julius Ceasar dem and Brutus dem, there were cold hearted killers and backstabbing going out n in politics.
Why was ALL the candidates for leader from Grand Bahama. Well Michael Pintard. Is still rough around the edges. Can he draw the traditional FNM financial support ? But at least he has five years to shed some of his’negroness.’ Unless Minnis err I mean Davis decides to call an election early. Fish Fry, fry fish. Keep telling them it’s not the same.
Brave Davis must be aware of harlots and backstabbers and political prostitutes. It was women who brought men down in the Bible and nothing has changed since then. If you don’t believe me ask Loretta Butler/Turner. Nothing has changed since then. Yea, ya see
Why are they still giving away The Bahamas? There are approximately 100 cruise ships under construction or proposed to be constructed over the next decade. Bigger and bigger ships. They need somewhere to sail and the world not The Bahamas is getting any bigger. Lcrus identity supposed be a luxury. So let them pay for it, taxes included.
> But. . .that een the kicker here!! Toby Smith "get swing". . .the PM said that "they will cut the time down" on the lease!! so they have a binding lease aye??< . They may cut the time off the lease and they may also cut Tobys portion of the land out the lease. At least they talking. ScrewFace Minnis wasn’t checking.
The watchword is ‘caution”, both to consumers and merchants alike. First with the fourth wave of Covid sweeping Europe and parts of America, some countries and states are going into lockdowns and curfews again and others are closing their borders to the outside world again. Some don’t expect the fourth wave to last as long as the Delta wave but some slowing of the economy is expected. Secondly, there is a shortage of many items. Some holiday and seasonal and others essential. Consumers should learn to maneuver around these shortages and not be duped into paying astronomical and outrageous prices for items, especially gifts. The shortage is only temporary and the gifts can be substituted with other, more affordable items. And consumers and merchants should be cautious on stocking up on inventory and supplies whilst freight costs are high and driving up the costs of duty, vat and the retail price of the items. Increased prices mean less sales and if the items do not sell before freight costs go back down, then the retailer who still has inventory and the consumers who stocked up will lose. The freight companies and Customs will benefit from the surplus revenue.
And the experts, even some who are linked to the vaccines manufacturers, say if the distribution of vaccines was not mishandled, the pandemic may not be as intense. The experts say there should never have been an attempt to vaccinate everyone. And persons who had the virus and fully recovered should never have been vaccinated. Not only did they have the greatest resistance to the virus and the ability to adapt to new strains, but they contribute to herd immunity and help the rest of the population fight the virus. Fauci and his band of clowns who can’t be trusted (and sleeping Joe Biden and Duane Sandsare with them). are preaching the opposite. They are saying that unless more people get vaccinated (some say everyone ), the virus cannot be defeated. But viral experts say mass vaccinations will put more pressure on the virus and cause it to mutate even more. This is presently being experienced in Europe in the fouy wave where some 35 nee variants have already been identified.
