So did the Elections and campaigning make August and September the two most deadly months for Covid-19 in The Bahamas?

For too long the snake (of murder) was being beaten about the body whilst its head remains protected and untouched. Time for the police to form a special task force to investigate and dismantle gangs in this country. The leaders should be identified, arrested, and charged under the laws that are currently on the books. And there has to be a harsher penalty for these types of shootings and murders. Some of these men do the killings and are never caught. Some are caught and charged and sent to jail and to await trial. Some get released on bail before the trial and then they, themselves are murdered. So not many are making it to trial. Even fewer are being convicted. And jail, despite its challenges, has become like a big party house for criminals, murderers included. Loaded with young people who know each other, are not remorseful for their crimes, and are living at the taxpayers' expense. There has to be hard labor and conditions that make no one want to go there.

Like the pandemic, the shipping pandemic was intentionally created. Too many coincidences. Container shortages, ports closed, ports jammed to capacity, shortages of dock workers. Shortage of truck drivers. Increased demand for products. Have we created a world we cannot maintain? In the main time, China sneaks off and blasts off a rocket that circles the earth and launched a missle capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

And there are options: Maybe government should stick to giving athletes just cash awards and/or positions in government. Or set aside properties in a special subdivision with infrastructure already in place for these type awards or allow the awardees to choose properties in existing subdivisions that already have infrastructure. To give awards or make promises of such awards that never materialize or not in a timely manner is a national disgrace.

There may be several reasons for children not attending online classes. Firstly, like many adults, children are suffering from Corona fatigue and just lost interest in online schooling. Some children live in homes that lost at least one family member to the virus and they are in a state of delusion. Education is not a priority for them. Other reasons may be that online learning is too difficult for them and so they stay away, rather than getting lost again. Other reasons may be financial. Some homes do not have the devices to go online or the internet data or even electricity. Other students find themselves having to work to help keep a roof over their heads or food on the table.

Do you know how many Bahamian businesses, including small hotels and farmers were promised concessions under the Pindling administration and never got them? Yes, many, many of were left holding a bag of false promises. Many of the small hotels have closed because it was part of the bigger agenda to keep Bahamians out of the tourism industry. This attitude exists even today where the average Bahamian shuns Bay street and other high tourist orientated areas for fear of being harassed. Merry Christmas

And despite all the hype and controversy, persons have to be reminded that vaccines are not a cure for Covid that turn one into super invincible humans, it is just one of the tools being used to combat the virus

The clusters on the Family Islands began with the election campaigning and then the subsequent Elections. People got the virus and some died. So then there were funerals that attracted more ‘outsiders ‘ to the island and caused more social gatherings. There was a funeral on a family island that was described as being ‘like homecoming.’ People flew in for the event and all the mailboats and ferries, came in ‘jam packed.’ There were large social gatherings and more people got sick and some died from Covid. This is one of the islands currently under investigation for new clusters of cases and deaths. So it is not just always a single event but a series of events that can cause these clusters of new cases and deaths. Persons must be willing to follow all safety protocols including social distancing and avoid large crowds . And these restrictions must be rigorously enforced , And without favor. Funerals seem to be the most frequent social event now. Not only has the number of funerals increased, but the crowds attending have gotten larger. Then the after parties that can now go on until 12 midnight !
