There was also the rum runners and drug smuggling was actually going on during slavery. All happened after Colombus came.

In fact one of the early slave ships bore the name ‘Jesus.’ And least you forgot or was never taught, Colombus’ first crew was made up of prisoners who agreed to make the voyage in exchange for their freedom. History books also record that there was an outbreak of General disease, more specifically syphilys, among the native population shortly after the arrival of Colombus. This was a European disease and apparently when Colombus left, he also left the natives untreated and also not knowing what they were suffering from. And least we forget ‘The Tuskegee Experiment.’
