Look for lawsuits and serious backlash from this operation. Seizing contraband and illegal items and rounding up undocumented or illegal immigrants or persons wanted by the authorities is one thing, but when you start to seize personal effects and food items? And not to attempt to justify the illegal redevelopment of the shantytowns in the least. But does Abaco need this type of operation/intervention at this juncture? Yes, the island is struggling to recover and redevelop from the most intense hurricane of the century and is still in the midst of the worst pandemic of the century. And when people go to Abaco to assist with the rebuilding efforts, the biggest cry, even for established utility companies, is ‘there is no suitable place to stay.’ And another cry is ‘the place is too dark and desolate. It starts to play on your mind, so you have to leave. You have to come back to reality.’ So will this operation push Abaco further into the twilight zone and stem its redevelopment? Some reports say that government isn’t doing much to help with the housing crisis. The domes have never been completed and reports are that containers and flatbeds sit loaded with building supplies and materials that locals can use to rebuild their homes. But obviously the government, at least on the local level in Abaco sees it more fitting to let it sit and rot, than to hand it out to be utilized. Abaco Strong!
Brazil, India and Turkey are now the world’s hotspots for Corona. Brazil’s critical pandemic can be directly related to politics where, like Trump, the president of that country refused to acknowledge the disease. And even after contracting the virus himself, the president refused to take appropriate action to control the virus. Even now he refuses to make the vaccine readily available to the general population. And while the US has declared Brazil a red spot for travel, meaning quarantine and tests are required, some are cheating on these requirements by traveling to another country before going to their destination country. The Bahamas imports a lot of meat and other products from Brazil also from India.
Experts are now warning that long term symptoms of the corona virus may leave patients incapacitated and needing treatment for a long time after they have been cured of the virus. This is especially true for patients who have suffered extreme lung damage as other internal organs may also have been damaged. but a major concern is the number numbers of persons who are showing to be mentally affected. Not only those who contracted the virus but those who experienced the pandemic. Suicides, attempted suicides, tendencies, domestic violence, gun violence and mass shootings are all on the increase. A recent suicide victim was barely 8 years old. So this country must brace itself and prepare for post-Corona trauma. Counseling and mental care must be available, especially to those who got the double blows of Hurricane Dorian and the Covid-19. And the children and the elderly, many who have been locked down for a year. And many people who have list jobs, homes, family members and loved ones .
Persons who get the vaccine should be advised as to exactly what it does. Apparently many people are thinking the corona vaccine is like kryptonite and it makes them invincible. And, according to recent reports, they let their guard down and act carelessly and many are now contracting the virus. Some have it unknowingly as they are asymptotic and pass it on to friends and loved ones unknowingly.
What needs to be done to fix this anomaly and miscarriage of justice and disband this group of police gangsters and cold blooded murderers is civilians must now gather evidence from these crime scenes. Not wait for the coroner’s court but bring wrongful deaths suits against the commissioner and the police force. Since the coroner will not gather this evidence and use it in determining the death , at least get the facts before the public. If you Black and male, they want you in jail or dead! Marvin Dames must be voted out.. he is damaged goods and does not hold the welfare of the Bahamian people in his portfolio
This country’s relationship with America is like trying to learn to swim and hold on to the dock at the same. You can’t really experience Independence or know what your abilities and strengths are because you are so obsessed with keeping big brother at your side, even when ‘big brother’ may not have your well-being at heart. China, on the other hand, realizes it has billions to feed and to keep employed and fully occupied. It knows the only way to keep the competitive edge in pricing and productivity is to achieve greater economies of scale by looking beyond its borders and increasing its markets. And one strategy it is using is helping impoverished and underdeveloped nations to develop and expand their purchasing power. Some fear China has ulterior motives and is stretching its dominance too far. But the next most powerful economic power seems to have a lackluster and unattractive marketing strategy.
This virus is like a hurricane: it has forward moment, it can speed up or slow down, change direction or intensify. But the certainty is it will end. And yes, human behavior and interaction will have it does have an effect on how long the virus lingers and the amount of damage it does. For certain the first part of hurricane COVID-19 had passed. The question is whether the eye of the virus is passing over (third wave) or has it already passed and it is the tail wains and spurts of the lingering outer bands that is being experienced. And remember the type of weather (virus) that is being experienced in Acklins or Inagua may not be felt in Grand Bahama or even Florida or New York. But the threat is still there and that is when Basil Dean or Daryl Miller will come on your radio it tv and say to you,‘don’t mind how the weather looks outside, the storm hasn’t fully passed yet. Stay in your homes or shelters and remain safe until the all clear is given.’ But you know how people go, Bahamians in particular. Curious Curiosity will get the best of them snd they will go a wandering and a exploring. Most will return home safe after a frolicking and a partying and a breaking all a da rules dem. But a Wat will dey bring back a home a with them? Stay safe Bahamas! Did a soon over!
