The waterways of The Bahamas are getting too crowded and too popular on some weekends and holidays, for any and everyone to jump behind the helm of a boat, high powered even, and become captain. Persons should have at least basic boat operator’s knowledge including rules of the water, first aid and safety, passenger limits and weather conditions. ALL craft operating at night must be required to be properly lighted and life vests must be available to vessels carrying passengers. Jet skis must be required to maintain a minimum distance from other vessels that are underway and the crisscrossing in and around other vessels must be outlawed. Not does it jeopardize the safety of the jet ski operator but any other person in the area or onboard nearby vessels Four lives in a matter of hours is too many. RIP. And then the competent authority may step in and say these type beach party/boating events are still prohibited, due to the corona emergency orders and so now the defense force will have to step in

US news is reporting that the recent spike in Corona cases can be due to the significant increase in travel as thousands of college students head home and to other destinations for Spring Break. This week saw one of the largest increases in air since the pandemic began and authorities expect more increases n Corona numbers as students flock to party destinations , including Florida beaches. Some states have already relaxed mandatory mask wearing laws and other safety measures as corona numbers have dropped significantly since January. The Bahamas too may see increases in tourist numbers during the Spring Break and Easter seasons but can I’ll afford another surge in corona cases.

On No evidence vaccine behind blood clots

I still tend to believe that this virus will disappear with or without the vaccines, as quickly as It appeared, and will be mostly gone by summer. Unfortunately, as PM and the leader of the Bahamian people and as a medical practitioner, Minnis does not have the luxury of wishful thinking or betting wrong. He must ensure that all available options are explored, to not only keep The Bahamian population safe, but he must also make every effort to help make Covid-19 disappear. And so it should not be hard for him to get the first 20,000 people to come forward and take their jab. And, as time goes on, more people will either come forward to take the vaccine or more people will steer away from it.

‘ Countries including France, Denmark, Ireland and Thailand have temporarily suspended their use of AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine after reports that some people developed blood clots, although there is no proof that the shot was responsible.’

Should read ‘And if Izmirilian sued...’ and not’ If Izmirilian died...!’

John says...

Would this not be contempt of the court to use a subsidiary of the defendant company to seize the relief granted by the courts? Seems like Bah Mar’s receivers want to be bit the plaintiff and the defendants in this matter. And if Izmirilian died on behalf of his own interest or loss in the matter then the award of the court is for his benefit. If the receivers, who claim they have claims to what Izmirlian is awarded, they should have been party to the lawsuit against CCA or filed their separate lawsuit. A pure case of wanting to have your case and eat it too.

So is it coincidental that as more persons are vaccinated, the number of corona cases worldwide has started going beck up? Places like India, Brazil, France, Turkey and other countries are seeing climbing numbers.

John says...

So you will not be able to ‘buy or sell’ unless you receive the vaccine? And how far is the world from getting back to even a ‘new normal’ after this pandemic passes? Many countries, like The Bahamas are incurring wider deficits and accumulating deeper national debts. Some will not be able to pay these debts without some forgiveness or external assistance. Over 100 million people will be added to those already living below the poverty line. Not only will many of these people be able to help with their country’s tax burden, but many will be taxing their country’s social assistance programs for some time. And will the price of gasoline see record highs? Gas is already almost $5 a gallon even though there’s a decreased demand for it, due to some countries being at least partially lockdown due to Corona. So why is the cost of gas increasing when there is lesser demand for it? The price of oil went from $50 to around $69 a barrel. But the last time gas was around $5 a gallon, oil was $140 a barrel. But the petroleum dealers are now claiming the cost of refining oil and distributing oil products, like gas has increased. So what happens if oil goes over $100 a barrel? Will gas prices go above $10 and as high as $15 or even $19 a gallon? And will everything else, including electricity and food, shipping and travel increase? Many power and utilities companies are already moving to solar and wind power. And the trend for individuals to produce their own sell it back to utility companies is increasing. This can lead to a lot of petroleum assets being stranded and , despite record prices, some petroleum companies going bankrupt. And during the pandemic year, many countries experienced increases in non corona related deaths. Some countries recorded record death rates. And because of being saddled with new debt or having their quality of living changed drastically, it is expected that this will also drive up the numbers of persons dying prematurely over the next few years. The after effects of Corona cannot be cured with just a vaccine.
