Many of the vendors on Arawak Cay and even more on Potters Cay chose to remain closed due to what the operators consider to be constant harassment by this force and police. Unfortunately many did not have the ability to reach out to the Commissioner of Police. Many small businesses have also felt the brunt of the Covid-19 task force. And the supervisors of this team should be reminded and instruct the officers that their major priority is keeping the public safe from the corona virus and not to bring unnecessary burden or hardship on businesses and other individuals. January will be the biggest hurdle for many businesses and, unfortunately many may not be in a financial position to continue to operate. Especially if their December sales were extremely off-target. And remember, when businesses close, workers become unemployed.
ALL Food stores and wholesalers have sold out of young turkeys (8-12 pounds). Whilst larger turkeys and hams are still available. Is this an indication that Bahamians are adhering to Emergency Orders and only having Christmas dinner with immediate family? Or does it indicate that people are feeling the pinch and cutting back on spending?
It will be at least summer before at least half the US population is immunized and there is uncertainty as to when the vaccine becomes effective and for how long. There’s definitely no protection for persons who have only taken the first shot and those who miss the 21 day window if the two-part vaccine will have to start over. BUT there are surges in parts of the US and the U.K. has a nee, more deadly strain. The US is reporting some of the most deadly days on record. Over 2,500 deaths a day. The next 6-7 months will be critical, especially after the holiday celebrations that include mass travel, even to The Bahamas. Meanwhile doctors have confirmed exposure to sunlight, increased intake of vitamin d and diets that include fish help build up resistance to Covid-19. As does social distancing, wearing of masks and frequent hand washing or sanitizing. And one study suggests smokers without pre-existing conditions may have more resistance to the virus as nicotine helps block the virus penetrating the lung cells. This study in no way suggests non smokers should start smoking.
These brain dead ‘officials’ are always slow to act when it involves taking actions against non-Bahamians. So fifty other countries have placed a travel ban on the U.K. So is this man and his government gonna wait until the morgue full up with bodies before he decides to take action that he should have taken days ago?
Tribune please do your research’ The age of consent in Brazil is 14, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, with a judicial precedent showing that a close-in-age exception that allows those aged 12 and 13 to engage in sexual activity with partners who are 5 years older or less is legal, although not constitutionally formalized.[1] The age at which there are no restrictions for sexual activities is 18. In any case, only individuals aged 18 or older can be legally charged, as this is the Brazilian age of criminal responsibility according to the Constitution of Brazil.[2]’ Disgusting but legal
