Police brutality may be only the tip on a freezing iceberg as the number of fatal police shootings has also increased. And many believe the case is closed or should be when police utter the so common phrase, "The victim pointed a weapon and the officer was in fear for his life.' And society who is already traumatised by the high levels of crime and sick of 'these stinking criminals, who don't want go work,' doesn't want to or never get to hear the rest of the story, when eyewitnesses say, ' It didn't go down like that, ma bey ain't had no weapon. He even ain had time to do nothing, they jes pull right up and start shooting.' And then a police spokesman would stand over the still warm body of the deceased and claim that he was known to police. And since dead men can't talk, it is usually the word of the police that stands firm and unchallenged. Then there is the underlying suspicion that police may be involved in other killings, listed as homicides, where victims are gunned down minutes after being released from prison or happen to be wearing an ankle monitoring bracelet and are gunned down and the killer is never found. Again in their press reporting, the police are sure to make it known that the victim was known to police, was recently released from prison, was wearing an ankle bracelet or a combination of any or all of the above. And then one must take into the account the large number of persons going to court with criminal charges and the large number of them pleading guilty because of revisions to the bail act and the time and difficulty now involved in getting bail. So they plead guilty to get a lighter sentence and avoid having to be on remand. And so with this changing of the guard on the police force, where the majority of senior officers are being sent into retirement, one must wonder if this will either help or hurt the situation, with the police shootings, with the torture and brutality of persons taken into custody and with other practices of the police that are unlawful. Will the old guard take this unwanted and worrisome behaviour into retirement with them or were they the conscience of the police force, holding back younger officers and preventing an even greater assault on society.

The problem is/was that Amazon came in in the middle or the tail end of the recession. So some cannot tell what was the recession, what was Amazon or whether it was a combination of both. Even now as America records its lowest unemployment in 50 years the brick and mortar stores were still taking a beating and are only now showing signs of recovery as wages start to increase. ANd yes there is an opportunity for Bahamians to sell services and experiences rather than jsur products. The swimming pigs are an example, so is the Tiki Hut. Cycle tours and buggy tours are also becoming popular. But so are unique straw and woodcraft and so if a shipping service is offered at a reasonable rate then it will increase the value of these products. But watch what is happening in the tourist market in terms of segmentation. Sandals is advertising its own private island and the cruise ships are all seeking to develop their own ports
So either they will operate gift shops, food outlets and recreational services themselves, or charge select Bahamians astronomical fees to operate. And they will find a way to get concessions to bring in all their equipment and supplies duty-free and the country or Bahamians will not benefit. And how many times will we fall in this same trap..'o because the tourists are so important to us.'

So what became of the investigation of the four bpl fires? To frustrate the masses and overcharge them for light and water..an organised affair.

At least Minnis seems to be getting projects started and completed. 100 incomplete projects are not worth one completed one. And hopefully, the building next to the Paul Adderley Building on JFK will be completed and occupied soon. Need to make examples of persons who take government contracts and taxpayer money and do not deliver or do not complete their projects.

Well mudder-take-sic: your re-post does not make you any more correct or add any substance to your rhetoric. LAW is based on FACT, and NOT Emotion. You said I published mistruths and lies about this matter. I challenge you, again, to indicate or point out just one. But you can't because you are a blogger bully. First, you post under different names to support your own posts and position. Second, you attack others personally when your posts get beat up on (badly in this case) because they are weak, full of hatred or lack substance. For the umpteenth time, bah mar, as an ongoing concern, is not a part of this the lawsuit between cca and izmirilian. it was foreclosed on and later sold. perry christie and/or the government of the bahamas is not a party to this lawsuit. their actions are subsequent to the claim izmitilin is making. The claim is for breach of contract, the construction contract as it relates to Bah Mar, and Fraud, also as it relates to the construction contract at Bah Mar. Why are you so upset and bitter that no bahamian is party to this lawsuit and if any are called, even as witnesses it will be for their role either as contractors on the project and/or they employment with Bah mar at the time the fraud or breach occurred. So get over it. Chrisites role in Bah Mar is immaterial at this time or due to the way Izmirilian's lawsuit is so styled. Izmirilain wants compensation for his losses, he wants at least some of his money back,so Perry Christie is immaterial to him at this time..get over it!

John says...

Again remember the lawsuit is against China Construction America and not China EXIM bank Who foreclosed on Bah Mar and ‘sold’ it to the current operators. If Izmirilian prevails in his lawsuit, the judgment will be strictly against CCA. If they cannot pay the court may seize assets or hold the judgment against further earnings. So the Pointe/ Sheraton is under more threat of being seized than Bah Mar. The current operators of Bah Mar acquired the property through a ‘legitimate ‘ transaction with China ExIM bank. And if there was collusion between the bank and the construction company this is not part of the claim. So China ExIm bank may give CCA a fake loan to help pay the judgment. But doubtful they will give up Bah Marwhich would involve third parties.

John says...

Understood. So tourists don’t want to tote a lot of baggage behind them. So if someone goes into the straw market or purchases a wood carving, they should be able to have it shipped to their home address, at a reasonable cost, and meet it there when their vacation ends. So now the straw vendors, the wood carvers and the Bay Street merchants must form a union and go to the delivery services (ups, dhl Ded Express Post Office And negotiates prices compatibles with Amazon. Get behind the eight ball

John says...

Yea is this the goat or the scapegoat... cause you know how it go.. no money no justice

John says...

Again you are proving to be a malnourished idiot. While ‘everyone, even you, may know about the PLP government involvement with China ExIM bank, that is NOT what this lawsuit is about, dummy. So stop pretending that it is and stop pretending to be the balance on the scale of justice. Yes, every Bahamian knows that China ExIM bank foreclosed on Izmirilian and Bah Mar and the Bahamian,Christie led government facilitated them in wrestling Bah Mar from Izmirilian. But don’t continue to be ignorant . In their wisdom, Izmirilian legal team decided to go after CCA rather than EXIM bank or the government or all together. They went back to the beginning, where it all started, with the construction company. And is Izmirilian prevails in this matter then that’s all that matters. The foreclosure by the bank becomes immaterial and so does the actions of the Christie government. CCA will have to pay and if they were in collusion with the bank or with the government, they they will have to fight that out. The judgment will be against CCS and they alone will be obligated to pay up. But, of course, you in your powdered milk narrow mindedness would love to see Christie dem drawn in. As the case is filed presently that is not going to happen. So put up the buds and popcorn. Law, unlike you, is without emotion. It’s based on facts unlike your posts under various names . So I double dareyou to tell me just one part of my post is untrue. Your fans are awaiting.

John says...

SP obviously you are mix up like conch salad. The government had no dealings with CCA to cause them to be a part of this lawsuit. Their dealings were with China ExIm bank who also are not a direct party to this lawsuit. The claims Sarkis is making is for fraud and breach of contract. This is before Christie dem got involved or mix up in this.
