The country may need foreigners to grow the economy but this cannot continue to be done at the expense of Bahamians. Too many Bahamian businesses are falling because they are not getting the benefits, locally and internationally, that foreign business are getting. Not only in terms of concessions and tax breaks, but greater access to capital at lower rates. Also their labor pool is greater. And while the welcome mat is being put out for foreigners, too many of the country’s brightest and best are fleeing the country to live abroad. This diaspora must be slowed down at least.
So a police officer can wrongfully kill someone and keep his job with no repercussions? And the courts can find an officer guilty of wrongful death but cannot penalize him? So what are the requirements to apply to become a police officer again? Seems like being a police officer makes you immune to being punished for committing a crime. You are, in fact above the law.
Yet we have human resources both on the police force and defence force that we would rather send out to the pastures to graze, rather than utilise them and make our schools and the youth of the country safer. Take the grandfathers out the family to make it stronger? Placing these 'retired" officers in the major schools where they can interact with students on a daily basis, not only on a policing level but where they can actually teach classes, like health and safety, that would include teachings about gangs and conflict resolution, but having additional male presence on the campus, someone that has direct access to the police control rooms and that is seasoned in police matters, but NO, our egos will not allow for that. Send them home! Then they must attack the gangs at the head and cut it off. Then the body will die.
A matter of cutting of your nose to spite your face. Politicians didn’t want to enrich or empower Bahamians because it allowed the politicians to keep control and maintain an elitist status. The foreigners came and pretended to be the experts and the professionals, the saviors even. Then bagged up every dollar and every penny they can get their hands on. And BPL is controlled by foreigners and no significant improvement in services. BTC has been ‘stole ‘ and despite being profitable under Bahamian management, politicians and overstuffing management to turn hefty profits. And so the last piece of carpets is being pulled Byron this lame elephant. After investing thousands of dollars to become franchise holders i of BTC the foreign CEO decides he no longer wants these franchise stores to do what requires a work permit as everything else will be done online and outside the country.so some have already been forced to close. The Top Up sales that have been operated by Bahamians since inception has now been outsourced to a foreign company who will now only hire Bahamians to . When the US automakers decided to pull out Detroit and the US, they didn’t realize the damage they would be doing to America and how much they would be enriching Japan. And when they decided to return little did they realize Detroit is not the same motor city they abandoned years ago and it has so much catching up to do to become relevant.
self-flying planes, pilotless, robot air traffic controllers powered by artificial intelligence and see what happens with Boeing jets. One more fatal crash and Boeing will be bankrupt and probably out of business at least where the 737 max is concerned. Human error and human defiance. Human pilots fighting computers in the cockpit and the end result is tragic loss of life.
Your rationale is again seeped in ignorance. The reason for the near miss was because the spoiled, little white pilot didn't think he needed to follow instructions from lll black air traffic controllers in da islands. So he became defiant , arrogant even, and decided to take off from the wrong end of the runway despite being ordered not to do so, almost crashing and causing numerous deaths of innocent people and now you try to paint your usual different and distorted picture.
But in the US, someone stole an entire commercial aircraft, taxied down the runway, took off, then put on an air show that lasted over an hour and included flying the craft upside down.. . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Hori…
#The chief cause of the near collision was the C6-JEF pilot’s defiance of an air traffic control order –– the pilot departed from the wrong runway and later told investigators he forgot to follow the correct instructions despite previously acknowledging them. The major cause of the mishap. No need to point fingers and play the facts. But at least define the word "defiance."
