good news...and hopefully it will be done in a timely manner considering the urgency and need for peoples of those islands to bring their lives back to normalcy and government's current financial situation.
***"The government's purchase of the Grand Lucayan resort property will not achieve any such objectives, and not only because it is ultra vires and unlawful, but rather because, inexplicably, it is generally accepted and excused as such but rationalised around other more ephemeral principles. Nor is it another instance of bad public policy to which one is susceptible through simple indifference to, or intellectual laziness towards, disciplined research and analysis that will dictate the consequences of executing essential governmental functions and responsibilities under one's charge.*** .If what the good lawyer is so affirmed and definite, then he should translate his legal jargon into simple English, so we wit one lil D average could understand." And since what much of what he is saying is opinion, or is subjected to opinion, either his or someone else's, it cannot be finite or written in stone, or in law that the Minnis government is, in fact breaking the law, and there fore subjected to be tested vis a vis litigation, as is with the case with the Web Shop boys dem. In the mindset of the Minnis government, the purchase of the hotel is essential to the revitalization of Freeport and Grand Bahama, by extension, and also for the urgent creation of immediate or. at least, urgent employment of hundreds of Grand Bahamians, and that being the foregoing and Grand Bahama being in a state of deep depression and with no private investors coming forward, at least in the time present, to invest in Freeport, or at least to purchase and restore and operate said hotel and property, the government considers the city of Freeport, and by extension, Grand bahama, in a state of emergency and the purchase , repair and operation of said hotel essential..just saying.

So its ok for a student to verbally abuse teachers and/or administrators.. should he have just been kicked out of school or suspended?
But yet we have triple digit murders for almost a decade! And a teacher/ administrator tries to discipline a child and teach him manners and respect that he obviously did not learn at home and he/she gets called out and dragged over the coals. In my days in school if you got a beating from a teacher and went home and complain about it you got another cut hip. The rationale was , "da teacher ain't gone beat you for nothing." And you ain't ger be going about making me shame. Then a few years down the road or even less than that, this same boy start smoking dope and start acting like his head twist on wrong. The parent can no longer discipline him. So the police are called for whom this time?
Unfortunately this situation is more common than you think. Young men become ‘known to the police ‘. Mistakenly or only as a suspect or on a simple matter like a traffic ticket. !or having a small amount of marijuana and they pay a fine. And they have to spend years trying to clear their name and get it out the system. The mentality of the police is they hate to hear ‘ you are free to go.’
The thing about these type deals is they snatch these businesses and services away from government and make hundreds of millions. But they never pay the corresponding returns in taxes to the government. So government must then look to ordinary, already overtaxed and over worked Bahamians (and now the Black owned web shops) to fill in the gap.
I guess you ( singular) will also conclude that the rich, affluent merchant class also instructed D’Aguilar to delay Bahamasair flights by up to 16 hours to discourage the poor, penny pinching working class from traveling to Florida to do their back-to-school shopping. Do the math 16 hour delays each way constitutes a day and a half lost by each passenger affected. And they say it was over 1,000 passengers each weekend for the two weekends plus this traveling on the following Monday’s and Tuesdays. Lot of man hours for real.
This victim does not fit the usual profile of persons found shot up. They are usually under the age of 30 so the motive may also be different. And hopefully the police will be swift in finding his killers. But armed robberies seem to be on the increase this year even though ‘hit type ‘ and murders in general seems to be down. But unfortunately this always seem to be the trend with murders around this time of the year. Then there’s some caterstrophic event that pushes the numbers up. Hopefully that will not happen this year and the numbers will remain down.
Then remember two tings. How many Bahamians did not qualify for the government low cost housing lots... not homes now but empty lots? And they were all government employees.. in that batch from the armed forces .. maybe mistaken but they were government employees. Then TOo or Two for those who like mats., them say more than half the people living in the shantytowns have some type of legal status in the country So or is it sew .. Sew if they cannot qualify for low cost lots and you kicking them out the Shantytowns without alternatives,,..Houston we have a problem. Is it Houston or Donald Trump.
