How doesthe Bahamian public know that this not just another pig with lipstick and sunglasses? Like BPL for example... many years in and no substantial improvements to the power supply in terms of output or reliability. Price still through the roof and still in a seemingly undivorcible marriage with fossil fuels. Or will they jump the fence and run away like the last operators. A rosy picture has been painted.. golf course and fitness center on top of mountains of garbage. Not unlike the Blue Hills Park that is yet to open because of health concerns. Many will wait and see, with fingers and toes crossed and with many prayers that if only the dump remains unlit and not ablaze.

There are islands ways more devastated that are rebuilding. Towns in the US that have been hit with hurricanes and others by forest fires and yet others by tornadoes. And they rebuild. So they tell you not to rebuild then come claim the islands?

Did any news agency report on how those helicopters buzzed the inner city at 3:am this morning, terrorizing residents. Unconfirmed reports is that it was a drug operation.

if you read the article with comprehension, it is not only personal homes that are in need of being replaced, but virtually all the essential services. And once an area is declared a disaster area, the government or relavant agencies are expected to step in and offer assistance wherever they can.

More money being spent foolishly that will not benefit the average Bahamian. Some things, like government are not designed to operate with quarterly reporting simply because most projects and financing exceed quarters. And the time and effort to gather, process and report information becomes too tedious and burdensome and will have no substantial material value being reported quarterly as opposed to being reported semi-annually or annually. Anyone with simple accounting background will know that the task is almost impossible to complete on a continuous basis. Just another excuse for government to spend more scarce money. With no material benefit to the taxpayers.

Sad and tragic loss of life. But most of these equipment have specifications and limitations. And being qualified to operate them requires that you know the load limits of the equipment and do not attempt to exceed them.

This government seems to have adapted the attitude of abandoning people and projects that take more than just ordinary effort to bring relief and closure to. And chasing projects they can resolve with just the stroke of a pen , or projects that get them in the news. It may be an expensive exercise to rebuild and repair these islands, but if the Southern Islands are abandoned, this will create even more costly problems for the country in the future. Like poaching and illegal immigration.Government can set out a timetable for the rebuilding and repair process over a period of time starting with the most essential services and continue until the islands are up and running.

Is the Minnis administration imploding?

John says...

So what was Marlon Johnson fired from BTC for? Ok a less harsh term ‘forced to resign ‘. (His boss was definitely fired) Will this government successfully prosecute any of the former politicians or government workers when its own administration seems to be steeped in the same challenges. Is this government about empowering Bahamian people or pandering still to only foreign interests?
