When BTC brought cell phones to the islands it also sucked million$ out the Bahamian economy. BTC was on everything. But once people got used to cell phones many switched back to bubblers. Some got rid of their phones completely because 'dey don't call no one and dey dont wan't no one calling dem." Once persons get used to the web shops, they will be just like any other business in the community. In fact many will no longer be able to make a profit (especially with the new tax regime), so they will close shop and move away.
If someone wants a gun, they will take the trouble and the expense of going out and getting one. If someone decides they no longer want to be in possession of an illegal firearm, they will take the necessary steps to get rid of it. Of course, if one is caught in possession of a firearm while attempting to get rid of it, the excuse that he 'was going to get rid of it', may not be sufficient to avoid prosecution. And of course one doesn't want to dispense of weapons in a way that they get into the wrong hands. Amnesty programmes require trust on both parts of the person turning in the weapon and the persons receiving it. If some compensation, monetary or other, is offered, persons may turn in several weapons to receive the rewards, but will still keep a weapon or more than one.

. JohnDoes..Walmart owns the Hanes company so when you purchase Hanes items from Walmart, you are actually buying below wholesale. The same pack of T-shirts that cost $19 in Walmart will cost $26.00 in other stores and as much as $30.00 in some malls in Florida. A merchant buying that same pak of shirt will pay more than you are buying it for in Walmart and after adding freight and duty the Nassau price will be around $40.00. And remember the store adds value by bringing it here to Nassau for you. That is a cost that Bahamians don't like to factor in when comparing Miami prices with Nassau prices.
The fact is that many retail clothing and shoes businesses are operating at a loss. Just look at how many close down every year. First for clothing (not clothes) and shoe prices to go down government must enforce duty on these items being brought into the country by persons who do not have a shop license but sell from their cars or homes. Secondly while they are removing the duty of clothing and shoes, which should have been done when VAT was introduced, they are also increasing the duty exemption for Bahamians who travel by $200.00. A 20% elimination in vat does not necessarily correspond to a 20% reduction in the price of the item. The overhead and total cost of doing business in the Bahamas is much greater than Florida. Freight from Miami to Nassau is almost double freight from New York to Miami.
> At rock-bottom price the whole deposit > is worth more than $15 billion. An > experienced dredging company like > Dillingham should be able to suck up > 10 million tons a year, which will net > the Bahamian government an annual > royalty of about $600,000. .
