obviously there are cultural differences between you and me. And a parent is not (usually) level headed when they dish out that kind of punishment when a child comes home after hours. they are already sick with fear and worry so they "half kill' the gal with beating for showing up safe after making them worry so much and for so long.

As I always maintained a lot of the crime in this country is/was artificial. It was instigated by the same forces who claim there are some 58 gangs operating in the country and there is a strong potential for the growth of Bahamian drug cartels. If you notice the involvement in the country by this particular 'force' is for drugs and crime (nothing positive in two decades) but yet these problems are prevalant to out of control in their own domain.

The reaction to this video is mixed because at first many thought it was the parent (mother) beating the child. Then it was revealed that both the child's parents are deceased. But that does not excuse a child for coming home from school at 10 pm. An now social media is associating this video with a wanted poster put out by the police for a man wanted for a sex offence. A similar video was put out by an American parent last year, when she found out her daughter was posing for an older man in her underwear. Of course the parent beat the young girl on camera, made her tell all her friends on Facebook that she was not 18 as she had posted and but a school age girl. So how do parents discipline children today with cameras in every corner and everything finding its way on social media. Of course there are parents who don't believe in beating children, but they too can end up on Facebook or on social media in a moment of harsh reprimand of a child. Then what effect will police involvement have in this particular matter? Should Social Services not gotten involved first and then determine if there was need for police action? The child has no biological parents alive so authorities must ensure that she is not being abused. But the intervention must be at the level that there can be a continued relationship between the child and the guardians or the child is removed from the home where the alternative housing is not the girls industrial school if it is not warranted.

Would Bahamians buy into BTC at this point with a 75% profit fall? And it may be even worse this year. But all of BTC’s woes cannot be contributed to Aliv. For example BTC spent most of last year without having cell phones to sell. Some say it was due to lack of cash and others say BTC had a dispute with its major supplier. And many consumers have stopped purchasing the high end cell phones, not only here but worldwide. The sales of The Apple I phone X has been dismal to disappointing and even that company has held back on releasing new phones. And of course the mass exodus of even senior staff from BTC. Many volunteered to take voluntary separation packages. Do they see an implosion? And the Bahamian economy itself has weakened over the past 12-14 months. Many businesses have closed, some have downsized, closing locations or merging with others and laying off employees. And some businesses are reporting sales declines of up to 40%.. for certain The ‘BTC on Everything ‘ company that the Bahamas has come to know over the past decade is no more, at least for now. Some wondered why the company spent so much advertising dollars back then when it had no competition. Brand building and brand recognition? Not with a 75% profit decline in just a year.

So why aren’t more Bahamians involved in the mini Crypto mining.. O I forgot the cost of electricity.

So they need to bring in a foreigner to tell them BPL’s equipment is old and some obsolete. That they need to upgrade to newer and more efficient equipment and definitely equipment that does not use bunker C fuel. That they should in fact diversify the fuel use to include renewable fuel and solar energy. Most small Family Island communities can run exclusively off solar power during the daytime and Store enough energy to illuminate the streets at night. And of course the need to reconfigure the Grid in New Providence so that any one fault does not cause the entire island to go dark.

So Brave says he gives the FNM a ‘U’ grade. But nowhere in the article is the ‘U’ grade defined. Does the ‘U’ stand for Ungraded, Unfit, Unfortunate, Unfriendly, United or an Upgrade of the former government? Of course there has been missteps by Minnis and the FNM and every time one drives on the streets of Nassau, one is reminded that there’s lots more work to be done. The stretch of East Street from Wulff Road to Bay Street is deplorable. Potters Cay seems to be falling into further ruins than befor the upgrades. And the Eastern parking area seems to be serving the businesses across the street more than the general public because is doesn’t have access other than Potters Cay. The continued closing of local businesses is cause for concern and while the unemployment numbers have fallen in New Providence (thanks mostly to Bah Mar) it has increased on some Family Islands and remains stagnant on Grand Bahama. Tourist numbers seem to remain up and murders and armed robberies are down. While there’s more confidence in the government, meaning there’s less wastage of public funds and corruption, consumer and investors confidence seems to be down so there’s no economic growth outside of Bah Mar. Family Islands affected by the last hurricanes are still feeling neglected and crying out for help. Eleuthera seems to be smiling, at least in the North and so is Exuma, economically. so the government would not get a ‘U’ But an ‘I’ for Incomplete. Meaning they still have the opportunity to pull their performance up and get passing or even an an Excellent grade, or they can slip and slide into an abyss and fail miserably.

And this is not unusual weather for the West. Just late last year what was described as a 'mini tornado' started at the airport, tipping over aircraft boarding stairs, and damaging vehicles and cut a narrow path all they way into the Black Grove area, clipping trees, damaging signs and overturning and ripping tents. Persons just a block away were not aware of what had happened.
