Pathetic liars..@ sickened. We were on the beach when the storm and everyone ran for their vehicles. The rain was blinding and the wind was blowing the sand so strong that you could not see more than a few feet in front of you. Driving towards Bah Mar it looked like the thick, dark clouds were sitting on the roof of that resort, and you can see funnels sprouting out at the bottom like they wanted to form water spouts. and then it started raining in that area. heavy rain.

Regardless of who is talking to whom, the time has come for all hands to come on deck and try to revive this country’s economy. It is so sad and depressing, scary even, to see the number of businesses closings day after day, month after month and especially in this year. Some blame Amazon and online shopping. But Amazon and online don’t sell cooked food to compete with the Carl’s Jr’s, the Burger King and the numerous chicken shacks and yes even Chinese restaurants that have closed. Not to mention the number of mom and pop stores and even Marathon is seeing its share of stores closing. Bay Street East is really gone and the stores on main Bay Street are fighting for survival. Of course the module for retail businesses has changed. Many stores have moved to little or no inventory and higher prices and wider profit margins but those formats only work for a short while. But can government do something at least to maintain the economy if not stimulate it? With every business that closes its doors government revenue erodes even more. And that means two things: higher deficits and more borrowings or more tax burden placed on the businesses that remain open.

@proudbahamian there was weather in the Western part of the island before the power outage. It was like a mini storm with strong winds and heavy rains.

*"Our stop over visitors have not increased from the late 1990,s while DR stopover have gone from 1 million to well over 3 million* ,,'

why do you come here to spew lies and mis-truths? The overall Bahamas tourists numbers have doubled since the 1990's and if all the hotels in New Providence, Paradise Island, The Exumas . the Abaco's are reporting 70-100% occupancy levels, then you are not telling the truth. As for the power outage the frequency has been significantly reduced as well as the duration. In my area we were having 6 - 7 outages a day around this time last year.

Now that these killings are hitting in the hearts of the UK they are getting worldwide attention and everyone is becoming aware of the seriousness of the problem. Trump who still is pandering to the National Rifle Association will be met with mass protests when he visits the UK latter this year for suggesting that more citizens be armed with guns to combat (Britain’s) stabbings.

John says...

And Donald Trump has come under fire for saying a very prestigious hospital in London has become like a war zone with blood all over the floors and walls due to ‘knife crimes.’ Most of the victims of stabbing in London are black. Some are 13 and 14 year olds recruited by gangs to sell drugs. Trump believes that more guns, arming more citizens, will solve The stabbings problem.

Of course Island Luck is operating like A HUGE piranha. Not only is it gobbling up the competition but Island Luck is eating up the small little independent operations that sold numbers. Is this only because Island Luck is overly aggressive or because proper regulations were not put in place to avoid this from happening. Information is that more than half the originally licensed web shops have become unprofitable or barely profitable over the last two years. So what measures will be put in place to ensure that Island Luck is not the only man left standing. Even the second largest web shop chain is now complaining.

Most of the rain is over the next twthree days and not the weekend
