Maybe because Bah Mar kicked in but overall the economy is down. Very down especially since January 2018. Some businesses sales are down by 39%. But still unemployment may have decreased in New Providence by 1-2 % as well. Again Bah Mar hirings. No other major economic activity. The Pointe is exclusively foreign labor and materials.

And is you check all the equipment on the site, they all also say ‘Made in China.’ The only thing they didn’t bring is the national anthem.

we fail to forget China is a Communist country and a closed society The Chinese believe in operating in secrecy and working with other Chinese rather than with strangers. Even the businesses that operate locally hire few Bahamians or other nationalities. and Chinese hardly ever mix socially with other people. So where does one draw the line? Violation of contract vs standard operating procedures. a national company vs free enterprise Bahamians will most likely only be hired when The Pointe starts sub contracting the various trades

Notice how The Tribune silently slipped in the small headline that murders are down by 50%. Most Bahamians don’t believe most of the killings were murders anyway. Assasinations is more like it.

Some say you don’t take sand to the beach, But Hubert Ingraham took sand to several beaches on New Providence and made great beaches of them. Minnis campaigned on the neglect of the inner cities and promised to improve lives in these areas. And since he has several MPs riding on that promise he have to at least give it a shot. And whilst Minnis and the FNM will not be able to turn back the clock and turn the inner cities into the bustling But quint and crime free and violent free little townships that was, just a little interest shown to these areas will mean so much to the people that live there. And remember the people needs jobs. Them peoples need work. And it would have been good if Minnis could pair these areas with the revitalization of Down Town and get some economic activity in all these areas at once. And remember because of the effects of urban sprawl there is no one town center that will be common to everyone anymore.

Both of them are spoiled brats who feel that money can buy anything and anyone. Too bad the trial is not here to allow local attorneys to benefit. But the court system is clogged enough as it is.

OMG your comments about teachers are way off base. This country produces some of the better teachers and nurses worldwide. Nurses are recruited even before they graduate and the only reason more teachers are not recruited abroad is because of their heavy accent. And while many like to point out that the national average is a ‘D’, that is equivalent to a ‘C’ under the American grading system. Most students who go abroad to college from here end up being 3 and 4 grade point students and the reason why many don’t return is because of the vast opportunities and great offers abroad. Hence the great brain drain in this country. And the foreign Mega yachts the size of the Defense Force vessels that visit the Bahamas hire crews with many years of experience traveling world wide. The payroll for their crew is probably 10 times what the pay is on a Defense Force boat the same size. And sometimes they do have wrecks and damage. Hence the ship repair facility in Grand Bahama is not only always busy but also expanding.
