Because of our strategic location The Bahamas will almost always be on someone’s ‘fix this’list of the other. And with marijuana being legal in some form or the other in THIRTY states in the US, one must question why the DEA has it listed as a grade one dangerous contraband alongside cocaine and other substances. The cocaine drug trade is a deadly industry and the United States knows The Bahamas does not have the manpower or other resources to stand up against the drug cartels in Mexico and Colombia and other countries. And when there is less Co-operation between the two countries, the USA and The Bahamas, then the drug producing countries have the advantage. And when every industry and every institution in a country is being attacked and scrutinized one must question the motives. The crime problem in this country, especially murders is not natural to our culture and many is wondering what is really driving it. When you talk to the young men on the streets, most of them only want a job to earn a living and their major concern, like everyone else, is their own safety and the safety of their families and friends. So the words of Sir Lynden Pindling to Brian Ross in the 1980’s must now ring clear in the ears of every Bahamian: The US with all its manpower and resources and technology, should not expect this little country to do what it cannot do.

This whole affair is filled with too much fraud and deception and since the prime minister says he was aware of what was going on, one may add collusion. It is highly unusual for an investor to chase down three consecutive governments for a project that even he admits is time stamped and may be stale dated before the project is completed. And there should have been clauses in the HOA that states that the said company shall not be allowed to progress to any other stage of the development unless and until both the workmanship and operations of completed stages are up to industry standards and are not operating and creating situations or conditions that are contrary to what was promised. But O, the agreement says that not even the findings of an EIA can halt the project. So what if it was discovered that they were building nuclear weapons of other military weapons rather than refining oil?

Jamesg30 the decision to put the clinic on the site where the hill was escalated, was made just over two years ago. When the motion to purchase the land was brought to the house. the opposition, now government made the point that there was no need to purchase land as government already owned land in the very area. And land than needed deep cutting on a narrow island like Eleuthera. But they went ahead anyway and obviously someone in government benefited handsomely from the purchase of the land, the contract to cut the hill and the sale of the fill. Not unlike Hubert Minnis is being warned today about OBan. The agreement in its present form brings no real benefit to the Bahamas and definitively no benefits in proportion to what the refoitself will realize. But is the government listening to the people? Are they hearing what is being said? NO! The refinery will take 12 years to be fully completed. In less than six years more than half the vehicles in service will be electric. At least half the gas stations now in service will be closed or offering alternative forms of power (exchange of batteries maybe). So where is the demand/market for the products this plant will be producing.

I’m sure this is not the same Humane Society that were called about a stray dog having 10 puppies that were wandering in the road and they told the caller to go in the bush and collect the puppies and bring them in because they had no one to come out and get them.

In the main time Trumps’ plan to protect its Southern boarder with Mexico with the military until his Wall is built may spell trouble for the Bahamas. Since these guards will include aircraft fly over and other interceptions, this may force the drug trafficking back through the Bahamas. This country cannot afford the crime, lawlessness and break down in society this activity brought in the 1980’s and early 1990’s

In the main time a hill has been cut down in Central Eleuthera for what was to be a clinic/mini hospital on the site. Thousands of Dollars in fill has been carted away and sold and no consideration given to the effect of the cutting during Sea surges. And the property was purchased from s former MP while the government owns acres of land in the very same area. The cost to cut the hill? A cool $900,000 and change!
