Boy when is my time to retire NIB better don’t play with my money. They did that wicked crap during the pandemic and me and hundreds, if not thousands of Bahamians, who contributed for years, didn’t get a single red cent. Had to live if bread and ( not coconut) water during the pandemic. But not this lap. No sir!

Tenielle Burrows knows the reason for her outright rejection at the polls so she may as well hang up her boxing gloves. Bahamians have enough conflict and confusion to deal with and they just ain’t ready to embrace to much of the chosen alternative. Like the same sex marriage bill and the marital rape law Bahamians have demonstrated time and again, they just ain’t ready for that yet!

This Election proves that what Bahamian politicians can’t steal from Bahamian people, they are willing to buy, regardless of the price. and with the people’s money!! The PLP May count this as a win but behind the scenes many hairs have turned gray. The Top Brass of the PLP ( and also the FNM) knows a lot of work has to be done in three years before the general elections. Lincoln Bain and Ternielle Burrows showed the most consistency across the polls. Burrows being totally rejected and Lincoln Bain shows that some of the people he reached out to him supported him but he didn’t have the money in the T Shirts or the public treasury or civil servants to work with. So will West Grand Bahama see the 1/2 billion in promises made by the government delivered, or will residents of that constituency be standing in line, like many other Bahamians to vote them out!

When I used to do butchering in a local food store, the boss would put ham and Turkeys on Sale from the day after Christmas ( Boxing Day) until New Years Day, to clear out all the stock that did not sell. Then after New Years, the butchers would cut up the remaining ham and turkeys and sell them that way. Today you see ham and Turkey in the food stores from Christmas to Christmas and they are not even kept frozen. Of course the curing process is different for hams now and they can last longer. But Christmas to Christmas Turkey?

I hope when y’all go in Brave Davis family run stores, you apply the same standards this economic disaster ( yes The New Day Brave, Halkitis dem team ) is applied there. Why this idiot and his cronies seem so hell bent in turning consumers against retailers?? A below the belt shit to make himself look like the champion and savior of the people, whilst Brave and this new day government are the worst offenders and biggest perpetrators of increasing the cost of living. Didn’t Rupert Roberts just say that sometimes when the price of some items increase so drastically, his company does not even put the full mark up in the items but just a few cents to cover cost and keep the item available to the consumer? What did Brave Davis do as an individual or as the PM to avoid the in some cases, the tripling of some consumers electricity bills. Except fly around the world. People in West Grabd Bahama need to send this short sighted government a clear and precise message’ keep your bags packed!’

I think it is just political rhetoric to influence voters in the by election one way or the other, but imagine if they did raise minimum wage to $350? The illegal immigration problem would boil over and businesses would be more willing to take a chance hiring them.

These unions, run by antiquated trolls, who can barely put two and two together much less understand economics, need to hurry up and strike. Go ahead and send your sheep into treacherous waters to be slaughtered whilst you sit home and eat lobster, steak and rack of lamb leg (sic) burning air conditioning whilst your following has no electricity. Economics is a two-sided equation in the least, and what happens on one side effects action on the other side. And if you seduce or entice government to implement another wage increase at even half the amount you are proposing, it will be better you strike because it will send such a bitter-shock through the economy, causing mass layoffs and business closures, it will be cheaper people be on strike and receive strike benefits because so many will be unemployed. Two things: First the run away inflation that is hitting this country is imported, for the most part and there’s little that can be done to stem it. So it is up to the consumers to manage their spending, cut back on nonessential items and seek cheaper substitutes. Cutting back will eventually cause prices to come down ( usually) but remember there are two wars going on. Two: the outrageous prices now being paid for electricity in this country is a result of politics and ignorance and pride that resulted in bad and costly decision making. And the people are enraged and outraged. Never in the history of politics have Bahamians expressed some much dissatisfaction and anger towards a government, this early in their term. This new day PLP basically stands less of a chance of winning the West Grand Bahama seat than the third party candidate. Despite ALL its resources, public treasury and civil servants included. Not saying they won’t, but many who may vote for them will not be doing so with a kind heart or clean spirit.

The effects of economic policies are not always i immediate. The minimum wage that took place in January was clouded by runaway inflation and government fumbling badly in the fuel hedging for BPL ( Brave Davis probably didn’t even understand the importance of it or how it worked at that time, or maybe he was opening the back door for his multi/millionaire friend Frankie, the fact is the Bahamian people are paying dearly for it.

Do you know most major cities in the US have a homeless problem where the population is growing by leaps and bounds? And whilst a good number of homeless in the US are due to drug and substance abuse there are many who just hit the bottom of the barrel. Many are US war veterans who served overseas and came back with mental disorders or other conditions that prevented them from working. In Nee York, the Governor attempted to make being homeless illegal. And homeless people were booked, arraigned and sent to jail. But this only complicated the problem because once these people served their jail time, they found it more difficult to get a job with a criminal record. In California, officials made it illegal to pitch a tent in the city. So the homeless moved from the city streets and sidewalks at night down to the river bsnk. This created a bigger problem because they were bathing, urinating and passing human beasts in the river and on its banks. This threaten a health problem because the river was a source of the city’s water supply.

How many decades has this been going on where as fast as they demolish illegal shanty’s, others pop back up? And until the major and underlying problem is addressed this problem will continue to linger and to blossom. There is a housing shortage in most major islands in the Bahamas. There is an even greater shortage of affordable housing on islands like Nee Providence and Sbaco and parts of Eleuthera and Exuma where there is some economy that draws low income workers but no desire to create affordable housing. People don’t want to invest in low rentals because they are a big headache to manage and because of high maintenance and high tenant turnover, they can be a expense or loss for the owners. Despite being poorly maintained, the waiting list for government rental units are as long as the traffic line on Sir Milo Butler Highway. So what are the solutions? Government assisted housing? More rental units in the same space ir higher rises than two or three stories? When these illegal shanties are demolished, several hundred people will be displaced from living accommodations. Some children, some infants, some Bahamians and many nonBahamians. And ALL the presently available housing on New Providence cannot accommodate half of them.

At least the government owes the Bahamian people an explanation as to why this property is no longer being used for the Central Bank and why the plans were scrapped and the property returned to government after years of planning and millions invested. So now the HOA will be right next to the US Embassy for contrast and contradiction
