At least it is good to know government is looking for a solution for the Carmichael Road/ / Southwest traffic problems. Sometimes after spending over an hour fighting traffic in that area your only wish is hoping you don’t have to back. The area from Soldier Road going South pass the shopping centers and going west on Carmichael Road leaves too much to the chance and judgment of drivers. With traffic merging from all directions it becomes s free for all. And as soon as you clear one conjunction you drive right into another. The proposed extension of Soldier Road and the broadening of Carmichael will do miracles to relieve this problem, especially with parts of Gladstone Road being made into four lanes. The volume of traffic has outpaced the two lane road. And just to think that no one ventured beyond the Old Carmichael Drive In ( now BFM) after hours. People who lived beyond got home before nightfall

The average Bahamian family cannot afford fish on a regular basis. It cost about $30 to buy just the fish for a family of five. And that is just the fish. And in the restaurant boil and stew fish is $15. So is stew conch. But it is good to switch from chicken and pork especially fast food once or twice a week. And rather than adjusting only imported items, government should set up distribution centers to sell BAMSI products. Then ensure that all persons receiving food assistance from Social Services get a package of locally grown produce and locally caught fish each week. There are 13,000 such families. Imagine what that can do to support locally grown produce and the fishing industry.

Hopefully the police will follow all leads and leave no stone unturned in finding the killers in these latest murders. Drivers must realize now that road rage is not always simple road rage anymore. Persons try to engage you in a confrontation and once you stop your vehicle their intention is to rob or injure you. Or they will follow you to your destination to do harm.

Just ride around the islands. The mango trees are in full blossom and they are one of the few nnaturally grown things young people still eat. ju ju trees are loaded and you see older folk but very few children bothering with them. The generation has been programmed to processed and fat foods so apart from reducing bed basket prices and replacing some for more healthier items, there will also have to be some relearning. Before the fast foods school children could only eat what grew in their neighborhoods between meals.

Back in the day if a woman was beaten by her husband, or 'he come home carrying on bad',she would take the children and go to her parents house. And the mother would say something to the effect that, "now he's your husband. You and the children can stay the night, but as soon as day clean, you must go back home to your husband.' Today if a woman get 'touch up' by her man, even if he is her husband, she ain't going to mummy. She calling her brothers and day friends or her and her girlfriends going looking for the man. and even if he in the bar with he friends they, his friends, ain't gonna get involved..well maybe they will try stopping him from getting beat up too much but no, they a'int taking no sides. And in some instances these days is da woman who is throw da first blow and kick the man out the house. In the US the law states that the person who started the disturbance must leave the home for the night and the one that threw the fist blow will be arrested.

Some private vehicles re not even boarded, depending on the availability of customs and immigration officers. They would call in and make their declaration by phone, then turn in the paper work later. In the Northern Bahamas this is not unusual because of the number of vessels moving back and forth from the US.
