The reason why the IMF wasn't successful in destroying the economy of Jamaica is they did not account for the millions of Jamaicans living outside Jamaica who still support their people and their families 'back home.' So the more they devalued the Jamaican dollar the more the money sent to Jamaica by nationals living outside Jamaica was worth. And Jamaican no longer consumes US products because their dollars are valued more in China and Japan. Bahamians and slowly starting to also trade directly with China and Japan and exclude the US from their economic transactions
Kick the IMF out this country. They are dirty dogs seeking every way to try control the economies of smaller developing nations. Kick them out they are agents of Satan
Remember when Batak Obama was on vacation and out of the country. That is the most time in his life Donald Trump ever called his name. Accusing Obama of trying to sabotage his presidency and causing Isis to become so powerful among other things. Now Obama is back and you hardly hear a peep. Especially since Trump has spent millions trying to repeal Obamacare unsuccessfully. Get the economy moving FNM and reduce crime
Some of the dumbest comments... stop paying retired MO's and cabinet ministers? 'Ignorant Bahamians '? Sounds like Donald Trump say 'we will have to write off Puerto Rico's debt, all of it. That was a given considering the condition the island nation was left in after the devastating hurricane. Unless and until the economy gets moving and until there is real growth in the economy then most of the suggestions you make are temporary or ineffective. If you have an orange you can cut off the spoiling part as much as you like. It will continue to rot so you need s new orange, a new and blossoming economy.
At some point the FNM is going to have to stop crying over spilled milk (especially of the PLP) and get to governing the country and especially getting the economy moving and people employed. No one alive doubts the corruption, mismanagement, dishonesty and desperation of the PLP but you cannot spend most of your five years in office crying about them. Better get some effective plans in motion (even as you cry and reveal the PLP's dirty deeds). because Bahamians quickly grow impatient. And guess what? Christmas coming.
Anyone who relies on the post office to run a business is automatically severely handicapped. When you get your bills they are obsolete and if you don't have foresight to go pay them without receiving the bill, your services will be interrupted. Persons who have to file monthly VAT returns or even quarterly ones are facing an uphill battle as the government wants to get its VAT money on time and has devised severe penalties for those who are late. Then, of course, one must recognize the psychology of having staff work on shortened days for a long period of time then return to a normal (longer) work day and be more productive. Then, of course, there is the economics of paying workers for shorter work days and less productivity, especially when the government is already financially challenged.
In my usual 'racist ' way I will end with this: Maybe if more of the victims of murders in this country were white, then the profiles of all of y'all who chose to snicker and snare and smirk would be different. If you voluntarily call yourself a Cainite and/or support one who does then your intentions are not good, nor will they ever be!
