TalRussel 'in custody does not always mean 'guilty ', but it does mean 'in progress.' And as long as progress is being made then the possibility of the double murders being solved is greater. If you follow the details on the murder of the elderly lady in Cat Island it shows it was through community effort that most of the discoveries leading to arrest of two suspects were made. The community arranged search parties and found the lady's burnt out Car among other things. Progress in both cases are being made.

If you can recall, the very noticeable spike in murders started in October last year. You may remember the young man being gunned down through Hospital lane even as the country was under the threat of a hurricane. And the country has been in monthly double digit murder ever since then. And even though the murder count for 2017 is around 107, if one was to count the number of murders occurring from October, 2016 to the end of September 2017 (12 months) the count is around or above 140. (Yes One Hundred and Forty plus). So what is the significance of this? Well firstly, the country has gone through an entire 12 month period with double-digit murder. Secondly, with an average of 11.88 murders a month, the country is about to record the second bloodiest year (based on number of murders recorded) in its history. And finally the period from October 2016 to present, saw about eight months under the administration of the former government and some five plus months under the present leadership of Marvin Dames as Minister of National Security. The murder rate remains constant and with the average of 11.88 murders a month the policies of neither administrations seem to be effective in helping to cut the murder rate. And to add to the disappointment is the victim of one of the most recent murders. First murder in Cat Island in 5 years. And an elderly, white woman is suppose to be the most safe person in the country, according to statistics, and the one least likely to be a victim of murder. So not only does a person least likely to becoming a victim of murder, but the crime happens in a place in the Bahamas where it is less likely to happen.

It is good to see that this wicked crime was solved. Obviously the publicity about this killing and attention in the media helped to have this person brought into custody. And even though the young boy was not the intended target of the deadly shooting, the crime must not go unpunished. And, just as important, the killer must also face justice for the other young man he gunned down in cold blood after chasing him through the neighborhood. He had sufficient time to rethink his actions while chasing and withdraw his assault before shooting him multiple times.. Society and each community must now keep the pressure on to ensure this killer gets a speedy trial and and due punishment. Bahamians must also send a clear message that murder will no longer be tolerated. Killers will either go the jail or live on the run. Let criminals know that the community will search in every nook and cranny and shake every tree and bush until they are caught and brought to justice.

And who remembers all those plane crashes when unskilled pilots were hacking to all the regattas and home coming. then there was Trinity Air that was kept grounded so long that it went bankrupt before it got off the ground. Passengers used to be already boarded on the jet and flights were terminated. The red tape may have help send one of the partners to an early grave. Aviation him the Bahamas has come a long way. And if the strict and sometimes burdensome regulations is keeping the industry safe then carry on ma' brother!

Yes and he is politically connected. And a high net worth Bahamian. Imagine the struggle of the common man. When Tennyson Wells was in charge of aviation it was even worse. Only after Wells left were Sky, Pinapple Aif and other small carriers able to get licenses. The aviation was laden with piracy. Same with the Web shops. Better they be licensed and have some form of regulations than to be operating illegally and underground.

Well the wife of the PM suggested that persons wear black in recognition of persons who were murdered and she was lambasted for that suggestion. Some people just don't care.
