First of all birds you are only telling half the story. What Hubert Minnis said that IF Bah Mar was NOT sold they he would seek a buyer and get a proper sale for the resort. But the new attorney general has since indicated that the sale was above board and the relevant documents are in order. So Minnis has no need to halt, delay or otherwise interfere with Bah Mar's sale. What Sarkis is trying to tie the government to the Bah Mar deal and make them party to the legal wrangling. Dark is should have done this whilst the previous government was still in power. What Izmirilian should be doing now besides taking up his case with the Chinese is assessing the sale price of Bah Mar in respect to its value at sale. If it was not seriously discounted there may be a clause that allows him to recoup some of the $900 million he invested. Then just sit and wait. Chinese do not have a good record of managing resorts. So the Bah Mar resort may soon be on the market again. To go pick a fight with a newly elected government is not on his best interest.
The number one priority now should be to get the Bah Mar resort up and running, get Bahamians to work and get the economy moving. Yes Sarkis has legitimate claims but to now demand that the new FNM government refund contracts and make a new sale agreement to his benefit will put the government in the same questionable and undesirable position the PLP found itself in. Izmirilian's fight should be with the China EXIM bank and while the government may support him in his efforts they don't want to go a meddling. This is especially true since the new attorney general say the sales agreement for Bah Mar is above board and nothing in it was untoward.
PLP's are like gamblers. They know the odds of winning are stacked against them (gamblers) so they go and lose up all their money, then promise to quit but as soon as they get the opportunity they are back to gambling. Likewise it is the PLP's nature to squander, misuse money and get the country into financial problems. Even knowledge and wisdom cannot change their nature. Everything they touched is overpriced, money gone missing or it didn't get completed. look at the numerous thousands of feet of sidewalks that remain incomplete. Did the contractors get paid for these already or just mobilisation monies?
When you talk to PLP's, no matter how 'educated' they claim to be, they have a whole different view about how their PLP government raped, robbed and ravished the Bahamian peoples' money and squandering funds. They don't see nothing wrong with hiring friends, lovers and family who are unqualified for a position, or paying two, three four times the value of a contract or allowing persons to collect three, or four times the value of their regular pay in overtime. Or when people are hired and don't show up they still get paid. They can't seem to comprehend the long term consequences of these actions, like how it has put the Bahamas in the financial position it is in today. An undesirable one. A four times downgraded credit rating. And their only justification: "Ain't y'all is do the same ting when y'all in power."
Should some (certain) songs be banned from local radio stations? For example there are several songs that are promoting the use of the drug Percocet. This drug is intended use as a pain killer. But also know as 'hillbilly cocaine'. (Don't break the bank her) when abused it gives a feeling of high, delusional euphoria. Some of the lyrics say 'don't need a prescription, just need drugs in my system'. Another line says 'I shared Percocet with a hooker' And these songs are played all day constantly on our radio stations. Yet we question why there is a drug (and crime and murder) problem in this country. The demand for Percocet has grown so much in some parts of the US, some people have started making the drugs illegally. And because there are no set standards, the fake drugs are killing people who overdose on them. Others end up with severe medical and psychological conditions, kidney failure being a common one as is drug induced psychosis. Before the Percocet became popular there were several songs that promoted 'Baking soda, I gat baking soda' which is the code name for cocaine. And you could hear even the little toddler singing this song, and prompted by their parents. If you have a legitimate business and want to promote it or a product you sell, you must pay these radio (and tv) stations hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Yet they sit back and promote illicit drugs, crime, violence, guns and gangs for free. And you wonder why we have to call Houston and say 'We have a problem?'
Think is time to go get some of these padded government contacts. Tired of working like a slave, paying all these taxes and can hardly buy food while these blood suckers living large off the fat of the land and without fear of prosecution
It is good to give protection to local products by putting high tariffs on imported products. But a 60 percent duty on juices and drinks is really too high. A thirty percent duty is more livable and at least gives the consumer an option, rather than blocking out the market completely. Tariffs that are too high also to importers trying to find a way around the tariff to remain competitive and so both th local producer and the government does not benefit.
What about the man who threatened to 'punch the prime minister in his mouth" for talking foolishness. Hopefully the police has arrested him and detained him if only to monitor his mental state and to caution him about his apparent threat to a sitting prime minister while doing the work of the people?

No need to outlaw them. Just regulate and control them. And more importantly make sure you tax them... PLP's and gambling houses
