Are all of BOB's financial woes a result of toxic loans and the inability to secure quality loans? RBC, too, has been losing money over the past several years and while it may have turned a profit in the last few quarters, profits were not significant enough for the bank to pay dividends. And in its efforts to cut losses, RBC has embarked on a policy to close down and/or merge several of its locations, especially in the family islands. Customers are also familiar with the long waits at RBC for service and the continuous increases or new fees being introduced. Persons who have savings or fixed deposits at RBC has seen interest rates slashed and some are now carrying a 0, yes ZERO interest rate. RBC has also systematically increased interest rates on loans and so persons who have a cashed secured loan can have an effective interest rate of up to 16%. The bank is paying 0 on the fixed deposit od savings account and increased the interest of the loan to as much as 12%. BoB seems to need to streamline its operations even more and to revise its fee structure somewhat.

Hopefully those sidewalks he started just days before the election will serve to mark Perry chrisite's legacy. The people did not fall for it, Neither did the people in *lying* Mike Halkaits ares, where some of the sidewalks are so crooked (no pun intended) and unfinished. Now may Perry and his gang go live in the society they created, at least for a short while, and experience the hard reality of life that the ordinary Bahamian was living since 2008. ***It is the peoples' time!***

At least Hubert Minnis was wise not to make Brent Symnonette Minister of Immigration, and it is surely on the advice of Hubert Ingraham. Brent left many unanswered questions when he last held this post and the queries were not about Haitians or Jamaicans.

don't let this heartbreak destroy you:
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18 (NIV) -
.
.
There are people who make things happen. Others who watch it happen and there are people who wonder what happened. Fred Mitchell is still trying to figure out what happened. How did he lose his seat when he was considered an automatic 'shoe in', a safe seat. But the people have spoken and not only did they outright reject Fred Mitchell and the PLP, but the people overwhelmingly chose the FNM to be their government. That is why the FNM had a resounding, unmistakable, unquestionable, irrevocable victory. That is why no independent candidate got elected. That is why the number of persons voting for the DNA declined by 30%. now about freddie's claim that the plp will bounce back in 2022: First F`reddy has two problems: (!) The FNM will have to mess up big time to get kicked out of office in 5 years. And if they follow the people's mandate and govern to the best of their ability, the people of the Bahamas will not take a chance and vote for the PLP. (2) The PLP has to go through a dismembering process, a cleansing period, a regrouping process and a trial and test period. When Perry Christie Resigns and steps down as leader of the PLP (as he is expected to do tonite) many of the high rank and file of the PLP will walk away with him. Many who provide financing to the party will also disappear. And even though, because of his present position as deputy leader and a sitting member of parliament, Brave Davis will be the one most likely to become leader, this will not sit well with many. His selection of a deputy leader will create even more dissent. So there will be a power struggle, with the Alfred Sears, The Fred Mitchells, The Obie Wilchcombes among others. This will lead to more infighting and maybe even the fractioning of the PLP. And if it is not controlled and settled in a reasonable time, it coold lead to the complete demise of the PLP. And depending on how much fighting does go on in the PLP and for how long and depending on what the DNA does and if they continues as a a political party, the DNA can become the second political force, leaving the PLP out in the wilderness, yes to die.

and the truth Will be Told: Many on this forum like to refer to young, black Bahamians and D' average, dumb, lazy savages criminals. But the results of this election prove that the young Bahamian is in touch of reality and was not falling for the sidewalk trick and the t-shirt and cap 'o you gonna be all right, just vote for me' swing anymore. It was the PLP who 'get swing ' with their own bag of dirty tricks, which included the spread of false information, the preventing of the FNM the use of Clifford Parkvfor rallies, the barring of the FNM having ai time on the entire ZNS net work, the chaos that happened on the pre-voting day among other things. Remember, as slaves, the black Bahamian, like other slaves, developed a system of communication that excluded any form of written communication. They learned to communicate verbally in a coded way and they learned how to read body language. More importantly, they learned how to store and process information and still pretend to be the dumbest slave on the plantation. And so while the guy at the gas pump may look dumb because he is pumping gas, or the young girl making sandwiches in 'Mickey D's' may be barely functioning on her job, they are fully aware of the issues and concerns in this country. And they have memories like an elephant. They are the ones who stood their ground and brought this victory home to the FNM. But they are also hurting the most, displaced and many disenfranchised. So Prim Minister, Hon. Hubert Minnis, sir, they should be number one on your list of priorities. They don't want much, you know, most of them. They want a piece of the economic pie and some of the prosperity to flow down to them. The FNM says 'it's the people's time' and they don't want you to forget they are also the people.

Bite the bullet early as Obama did and in your fourth and fifth year you will have money for dressings and decorations. Obama left the US economy in one of the best conditions it's been in in years, considering the conditions he had to work under. Now Trump comes in and not only tries to take credit for the growing economy, but he slashes corporate tax by more than 50%. If this new fotos successful in slashing corruption by 50% and getting foreign investors to contribute 50% more to the tax burden they can have a surplus budget in three years.

Can you imagine what this would do to the morale of the police force if all the promotions were cancelled wholesale? Yes there may need to be a review of the promotions and those who were not promoted on merit 'corrected' but you cannot promote someone then demote them and expect that person to be a dedicated and loyal servant. One must also be mindful that it was the government that changed and not the administration of the police force or the defense force of the administration of The prison. So if the investigation reveals that these people abused the system and promoted officers who were undeserving of that promotion they they should be dealt with. Then each promotion will have to be dealt with on a case by case basis and to some conditions may have to apply. Then if those conditions are not met, then and only then should the officer lose his promotion.

The United States has started a nationwide round up of gang members. While most will face criminal charges in the US, those with no immigration status will be deported to their home country. The most feared and deadly gang in the US is the MS-13 which has origins in El Salvador and is now 10,000 gang members strong. Does the bahamas need to follow this action and attempt to disband gangs in an effort to cut down on murders"

Immigration and Customs and Enforcement agents have recently arrested over 1,300 people in a large gang-enforcement operation across the United States, officials said Thursday.
Twenty-one of the 1,378 people arrested were taken into custody on murder related charges, seven were arrested on rape or sexual assault charges, and 280 were arrested on immigration violations, ICE said.
ICE said in a statement Thursday that 1,095 of those arrested in the latest action were confirmed as gang members or affiliated with gangs. Of those arrested, 1,098 were arrested on criminal charges, the agency said.
"Gangs threaten the safety of our communities, not just in major metropolitan areas but in our suburbs and rural areas, too," Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan said in a statement.
The Department of Homeland Security said the six-week operation was the largest gang round-up ever conducted by DHS' office of investigations to date.

When it was becoming apparent that Perry Christie and Bernard Nottage would both lose their seats, it was also clear that the PLP loss would be greater than usual and so putting it mildly I declared that the PLP was about to get the biggest spanking in its history of its existence. And as was evident in the polling results, the Bahamian electorate was not about to let neither the DNA, nor the independent candidates or the other fringe parties interfere with their decision to kick Perry Chrisite and the PLP to the curb. The decision was a clear and decisive one. The Victory for Hubert Minnis and the FNM was resounding and the loss for the PLP was crippling, humilating even deadly. (yes deadly, many who lost in this election are now politically dead and will never contest another political election, ever!) And Leslie Miller is more than hopeful when he says the PLP will rebound in a few days. Not so. He must remember that thousands of supporters flew the nest before disaster struck and they are now celebrating victory. And happily so. Those who are left are severely injured, emotionally they have been humiliated. . They are mentally crushed and physically exhausted. So there is going to be a disbanding of the PLP. they will be in the wilderness for a few years, struggling to regroup, struggling to find a leader with vision, direction and the power of cohesion to draw the party back together. The old guard will fall off. And if they don't regroup, and the DNA holds its course and Branville McCartney releases the strangle hold he has on that party, then the DNA can rise up and become the second force in this country..And of course the PLP may just fade away, because Bahamians do nottake too kindly to third parties or independent candidates. Perry Chrisite caused that, just as Lynden Pindling caused it before him.
