If you go to report a person missing, police require that they are missing for at least 24 hours before you can report them missing. And according to police only a family member or legal guardian can report someone missing.
When you put a predator on "lock-down" and stop them from doing battle (their perception) they will seek a 'softer' target to focus on. Not in any way pretending to be an expert, but when the police announced that they were going to lock down the crime (especially murder) hot spots on New Providence, it was strongly suggested that they not do this without taking with them the much needed necessities into these communities. Namely job opportunities, food assistance, drug and family counseling and an effort to restore broken communities. Gang intervention. Not that the police should do these tasks, but have qualified persons go in to do it. A few weeks after they started their 'assault" on crime hot spots, they(the police) boasted in the media about the success they were having and progress they were making. Then the shootings and killings started again. And now in the middle of all else that is going on, two young boys, who have barely tasted life have been head shot, executed, murdered, lives snuffed out, even before it barely begun. And so now very young and underage boys must fear for their lives, parents are now expected to monitor them 24/7 and the country's murder count continues to grow. Let us hope and pray that this is just an isolated incident and young boys have not become the target of the stupid warfare that has plagued this island for over 10 years. Both the government and the police force have failed in this matter of crime, especially murder, and can any of them, police management and government in a clear conscience continue to hold on to their jobs..seek another term even?
Both apparently under the age of 15...Now wait for the police report that will probably go like, "they were two prolific offenders (school age kids) known to the police.."', may their souls rest in peace. And may God flush out the killers from their hiding places and expose them to the world in such a way that they run through the streets naked and confessing their sin, unlike Adam and Eve who covered their nakedness because of their sin and their shame, and may the killer cry out publicly exposing everyone else that is behind these ungodly killings.amen
wasn't this also the made up story with BTC as well. They told the government it was next to valueless put pressure on the government to sell, bought it for half a pack of peanuts, less than the cash it had in the bank on on hand almost, then turned around and flipped BTC in a multi-billion dollar sale. But whilst they have Bahamians distracted and fighting over colours (red, green yellow blue black white) they are busy raping the country, stealing our assets and saddening the country with debt. Then our leaders bring in foreign consultants to guide them and, seemingly, the foreign consultants are a part of the plot. They get money from the government, then more under the table
Unlike BoB despite having a 51% stake in Aliv, the government is not supposed to have the ability to meddle in affairs of the company. Same as with BTC. But as we know in the Bahamas, rules are made to be broken. But anyone wishing to invest in the company through its bond offering should note the high interest rate being offered and use that as an indicator that the investment is risky and the road ahead is a rocky one. There is even suspicion over why a contract was signed with BPl to manage BEC. Some say the company will switch to pre-pay or pay as you go service, while others believe that the amount of power a household can consume at any given time will be restricted to control the carbon footprint. But yet solar power is also being restricted.
another term under the christie government will break the country! Based on their performance in this one term, Perry Christie and the PLP will add at least another $2 billion on to the national debt but most likely more, if they serve another term. The facts are that despite collecting over a billion in additional taxes in a lean and struggling economy, this government increased the national debt and the country has very little to show for where the money gone'. In fact many of the bright eyes and sharpest brains are still looking for it. Christies biggest dilemma, and yes he has plenty, is that despite collecting additional taxes, he failed to pay down the national debt. He failed to grow the economy. In fact the economy contracted at least 3 of the five years that Christie was in control. But not only did he reduce spending, he increased it. Reckless so. And at this rate debt will exceed equity. Meaning the debt servicing bill will be more than the country can afford. This will happen soon if nothing is changed.
Persons are dumping their shares in Cable Bahamas like flies on a pile of dung. But at least they were warned that Cable would hit this point before it regains profitability. Shareholders in BoB did not get no such warning. Well at least the Punch did drop off some alarms but many didn't believe the Punch and when they took heed it was too late. But now the prediction is that BoB will see profit by June and no later than August, but despite the bargain price, persons are hesitant to buy BoB shares if only to flip them. It will be interesting to see how the war shapes up between BTC and Aliv. While BTC has a mass of a infrastructure and over sized staff to maintain, Aliv came into the market right fitting itself and streamlined. It used an aggressive marketing strategy to capture 25% of the cell phone market (its own figures) and now the question will now be answered : Can both BTC and ALIV survive in such a small tight fisted market. Just seeing what is happening in the Web Shop business may be an indication of what will happen. The web shops are canibaiising each other and some are going forces under the same management to starve off competition. Aliv's biggest mistake seems to be its stand alone retail stores. They are difficult to manage and expensive to operate. Especially as a speciality store. Should they not be combined and branded with Cable's rev's stores to add more products and services and share the cost.
The tornado was not limited to LPIA as Dean said. It started all the way from around Bah Mar going through Cable Beach then across to the airport, A number of persons lost roof shingles, trees were snapped and fences blown down. seems like when the heavy rain fell on the dump fire it created the atmosphere that caused the tornado. it followed right after the heavy rain and it sounded like another very heavy rain fall when it passed over. lasting less than a minute
Regardless of what Wallace Groves was, he brought the magic to Freeport and changed no, transformed, Freeport into what it use to be 8 years ago. He had vision and foresight along with the ability to bring his dreams into reality. The people in charge of Freeport today just don't seem to have any spirit or vision or the ambition to maintain Freeport much less take it to higher heights.
Lest y'all ferget, Grand Bahama has a Port Authority that is responsible for the day to day operation of that city, including the attracting of investors and the promotion as a tourist destination. But as it appears and most likely is Christie and his government seems to taken over the task of doing the job. The port authority appears to have become a dead log in the water with no sense of direction, especially after the death of the original founder(s). Yet they (through their lawyers) seem hell bent on getting every tax break and exemption they can put their claws on and not passing them on to persons who are investing in Freeport or trying to run a business there. Time for government to start reeling in these persons who get huge tax breaks, other concessions and crown land, including Freeport, the Ginn development in West End that has seeming come to a standstill as has the I-Group in Mayaguana. Then take a page out of Jamaica's book. Rather than spend billions to build huge monstrosities like Bah Mar, Jamaica spent just over half of what was spent on Bah Mar on *five* botique hotels. They are all very successful and Jamaica is promoring them by inviting tourists to come have a different experience on each property. Sandals has also caught on by allowing their guest to use the facilities at any of their hotels in Jamaica as long as they are bookes as a guest at any of the hotels.
