An independent survey says barely one million tourists overnight in the Bahamas's. The rest can come on cruise ships. Has government released figures recently to show what the tourists numbers are compared to when they came to office? And with Christie giving a major cruise line the green light to build a port offshore this will not only put more downward pressure on hotel properties but all others, taxi drivers, straw vendors, tour operators will be negatively affected. They always talk about 'fear of crime ' in the Bahamas using it as excuse to isolate the country's guests and hogg the economic pie. But The Bahamas is more safe for tourists than some of the cruise ships. They have their incidents of crime including rape and robbery.
If you watch real closely Perry's campaign strategy seems to be to attack Hubert Minnis, at every opportunity. Facts be known : Minnis has a secure seat. Despite the rhetoric on his leadership performance, he is still the most favored candidate in Killarney. And the number of seats to be won by the PLP and FNM, (DNA may not get any again) is too close to call. So Perry is obviously nervous, (maybe trembling in his middle finger even). So his aim is to discredit Minnis. Belittle him. Name calling. But Perry christie will never come out of his Centerville (gerrymandered) seat and run in Killarney against MInnis. Never, ever!
What I would like to see is the spiritual leadership of the country call a national prayer and worship day just before the election season. Prove they have a voice and they could use it.

The good about Jamaica was, when its dollar got devalued, there were (and still are) so many Jamaicans living outside the country, in the US and Canada and England and even other parts of the Caribbean, the devalued dollar had a positive impact, because when people sent monies to Jamaica it has so much more value. So even though the Jamaican economy hit very lows, it did not sink. Does the Bahamas have that many dedicated Bahamians living abroad to help keep the country afloat should it reach that stage. Then Jamaica has so much more natural resources and production than the Bahamas, at least more developed resources.
Driving past an FNM headquarters in the inner city today that was preparing to open. The building was already painted in red, white and blue, with two blazing torches painted on the front of the building. And then there were two men in yellow shirts. Raking and p the yard and helping get the headquarters ready to open. What a powerful picture. Persons in the area who supported the PLP needed work and the FNM obviously hired them. Both Halkitis and Minnis should draw from this example and teach their supporters accordingly. You are not out there to draw blood.
Hope Minnis is taking hints. The window is quickly closing for elections to be called. One print shop is burning the midnight oil printing political posters and paraphanila. So apparently when Christie does ring the bell all of his party's battle gear, including money bearing t-shirts will be ready.
Eventually the debt servicing will consume every dollar the country is producing in revenues. The country will be broke, all government services will come to a halt, and employees sent home. Then, unless some or the creditors agree to forgive the debt, restructure it or both, some organization like the IMF will come in and take over running the country's finances. Tough times when that happens. And they may seek to saddle the bahamian taxpayer even more.
No not one of us was there as to how the matter starts. But if a truckload of *rebel rousers* pulls up on a group that is walking, who is being confrontational? What else are you suggesting may have happened. So let me guess those that were walking ran up on the truck, forced them to stop and started to clash with them. Pleeze!
