The FNM leader may have been "right there" when the incident happened but, "***The video starts with a group of FNMs walking through the constituency when a truck carrying people clad in yellow shirts emblazoned with Mr Halkitis’ face drives past.***. The FNM's were walking when the PLP's rebel rousers (goon squad) pulled up in a truck. "***The truck then stops and the PLPs, some who waved Halkitis banners, continued shouting at their rivals.***

The PLP has always been confrontational during election campaigns. Last election they would intentionally block the streets in areas where FNM were having rallies, preventing supporters from getting to the rallies. Or they would pass up and down the pass the rally in big trucks blasting loud music. Being disruptive. They promote civil disorder and expect it to disappear after the election is over. Most likely those who are involved are getting paid with the much unaccounted for VAT money .FNM's and DNA supporters seem to act more civil. They focus more on rallying up support within their own ranks and using their rallies to meet and greet, and to hear the candidates address the issues.

@Dillytree, "*it is common practice around here to put a container down and return for it, but someone else takes it to use it and that person would in turn in-gate the container.*meaning the container is not always missing, just that somone else turned it in so it wasn't properly accounted for.

The biggest problem in the Bahamas is we no longer practice parliamentary democracy. A system where once an election is finished, those come together for the good of the people and for the the good of the people. They debate bills on their merit and not solely on politics. Major issues, investments, expenditures are carefully examined and only the best and most favorable option is chosen. But today the country remains divided along party lines. So any con artist or clown can come into the country and hoodwink and bamboozle the government. After 20 plus years of dump burning, we should be our own experts now. And the same for the empty public purse. If you taking out more money than you putting in you will go broke. And if you borrowing money faster than you paying it back, eventually you will not be able to meet your crditors.

They continue to tighten the screws on this country's economy despite the government's efforts to comply and make the country safe and enjoyable to its visitors. The incidents of tourists being harassed, molested, robbed or assaulted is it its lowest in at least a decade. Lower than the incidents that happen on South Florida beaches where there were incidents of visitors being shot on the beaches (some were multiple shootings too), and pick pocketing and drug peddling is a common occurrence. The Bahamas needs to ask the state department for proof of these incidences before they publish them giving the country a black eye, and start promoting to other markets that may appreciate our resoucres more. Back in the day the state department would work with the government and say' "Well here's what you need to do, and here's how to do it." But seems they keep raising the bar, raising it to the point where they don't want *any* Bahamians interacting with tourists.

This is nothing new. A few years ago when the construction industry was booming they had a scam with containers. If you were a contractor and had a container come to the site, when you came back the next day it was gone. Even some construction sites that had security guards posted got scammed because the trailer driver would give thesecurity some story that the trailer was brought to the wrong site. Weekend thefts were even worse. Sometimes the empty and abandoned container would be recovered in some bushes somewhere on the island. Sometimes the thieves would empty the trailer and leave it on site and so the contractor would not even discover the theft until days later when he opens the container to install the supplies inside. And sometimes when the owner or contractor was contacted by the security, the crooked trailer driver would change his story and say they thought the container was empty and they came to take it back to the port. But yes a simple recording camera or a guard posted at the entrance to this area can solve the problem. Along with a locking gate that closes at say 7 p.m and opens at 7 a.m. The gate does not have to be closed or manned during the port's regular working hours.

The real facts are that the Chinese may not be interested in opening Bah Mar right now or even in the immediate future. The Chinese are in a race against the US and other super powers to buy up and own as many assets as possible. In the Bahamas and Caribbean, South America (yes they now control the Panama Canal and has made it twice the original size), South America, the Middle East, Africa, Cuba or where any valuable assets are located. The Chinese strategy seems to be 'get possession first, get them operational later. This is no new Economic strategy as America has assets located all around the world. Then back in the day Britain, Spain, France, Greece and other countries all went out and conquered territories and called them colonies. So the little window dressing you see going on at Bah Mar may only be a token effort by the Chinese to help Perry Christie and the PLP win the election.
