Did the commissioner say anything new? Did you learn anything from his release? Of the 1,000 plus persons that have been murdered and are now dead how many are still prolific offenders and are still wanted by the police? How many of these murdered persons were killers and are still killing? So there in lies the problem. The situation isn't getting any better and the killings are not stopping because nothing is being done to remedy the situations that lead to young men turning to crime and to murder. An 18 year old male who has become a prolific offender, a thug, an AK-47 gun toting killer was only 8 years old 10 years ago. Ten years ago one hundred persons (average) was still being murdered every year. Get the point. Nothing is being done to ease and relieve the social and economic situations in these communities that lead to young men turning to lives of crime and one that may lead to murder, either as perpetrators or victims. So as was preached in this media times after time, commissioner needs to go to his bosses and call on all leaders to let them know it is not only a police problem. It is a social, spiritual and economic problem and all hands must be on deck. It is a given that many young men are not well educated and this makes them even more dangerous as criminals, especially when their livelihood is threatened or someone imposes on their relationship with whomever. There needs to be intervention before it gets to the point of taking a life. The government has done very little to ease the hardship of young men in this country. They are not all lazy and many do not want to turn to a life of drugs and crime but what alternatives do many of these young men have. Many companies or individuals are afraid to hire them because of their reputations. So what now? Does the country just sit back or take cover and let them finish killing each other?

If Hubert Alexander Ingraham did not resign the way he did and carry half the opposition voice (zhivago Laing, deon folkes, carl bethel )among others, the country would not be in the state it is in today. But Papa this the keys in Hubert Minnis lap and walk out taking he ministers dem with him. And though Minnis means well and maybe gave it all he had he was not up to tha task of replacing Hubert Ingraham. He tried yes, he tried hard but there may be three Hubert's in politics but one Hubert Ingraham. And so Loretta Butler being so accustomed to having a stro , powerful, visible and vocal leader, someone who was always on point, she tried to step up to the plate to fill the void and emptiness Ingraham and his followers left behind. But rather than fixing 'things' and getting it right she ruffled feathers (Junkanoo and carnival). She stepped on corns (popped and grilled). And she came across as the bad guy, not only trying to take over, but Trying to put Hubert Minnis and his team to shame. Embarrassing it was to be defrocked as leader of the opposition in the HOA. Having to spend more time fighting the back biting and infighting going on in his own party. And so now less than five months before the election: hardly no one register to vote, hardly no one knows who to vote for. People trying to register get turned away because the dinosaurs they gat doing the registering have a problem with boobs being exposed even slightly and the country is on a roller coaster to crime and bankruptcies. And what was the topic again?

It may have to be a case of 'holding on to the edge of the pool while trying to learn how to swim' with Bah Mar. many people may not be ready to cut ties with a current job based on past experience with the project. This may mean that, at least in the interim, Bah Mar may not be able to attract the best and the brightest. And remember too that with their last recruitment exercise they also urged Bahamians abroad to come home and become a part of Bah Mar nation. Many did and were left in the wilderness. Hopefully something good will come forward this time, thousands of Bahamians will be securely employed and the project will exceed even the greatest of expectations.

The Christie Administration is like a farmer milking a cow. He sits there and draws a full bucket of rich, high quality milk, but just as the farmer gets up to praise the cow it stumbles and knocks over the pail with his hoof spilling every drop.

In barely two weeks the murder count for January 2017 is one short of being equal to the entire month of January 2016. Seems like whenever information is released about crime figures being down the murder rate goes ballistic.

But on a more serious note. Bah Mar is claiming they have 1,500 jobs for the first phased opening in April. Yet they claim only 1,500 persons applied and/or enquired about jobs. Does this mean that Bahamians has lost interest in Bah Mar? Is it a matter of fool me once shame on me fool me twice? The property under the right management and right branding has strong potential. The Hard Rock Casino in Florida hasn't stopped expanding for the past 6-8 years. More than double its original size.

It is time to break the Bah Mar curse and get the place. Bahamians need jobs. This time the Chinese will have no excuses or blame the developer (Izmirilian). The operation is now 'everything Chinese." The financing Chinese. The Construction company Chinese. The Construction Workers Chinese. The Operators Chinese. Perry Christie Chinese. Look st him Good. PLP Chinese.

The cold, hard facts are at least eight of the ten murders this year were gang members. This gang is split up and once someone is identified as belonging to another faction they are apparently targeted and killed. Many are not aware that they may be targets and are still posting pics on social media making gang hand signs. This makes them a target obviously.
