This PLP gravy train must be stopped and Commissions of Inquiries launched to unravel all the scandals that occurred over the past 41/2 years. Follow the trail and find out what happened to the taxpayers monies. Millions gone missing. Someone must be accountable and some people must be punished for the Million$$ of missing money. Another 5 years under this type of leadership will have us worse than Venezuela where a cheeseburger now costs $170.00 (yes One Hundred and Seventy Dollars) if only you could find one to buy.
Far from it. I just refuse to play any part in the transition that is happening worldwide, with the sexes, with nationalities and with economies (notice race has been left out, at least for now.) This New World or One World movement. I can't stop it but I refuse to give power to it by my vote. Obviously your urges are being well satisfied as you are clearly a 'yes' voter..so don't try to detract me from voting "NO".
Unfortunately the trend has been that whenever Bernard Nottage or Keith Bell open their mouth on crime , it gets worse. And while there is a definite 8 - 10. % decrease in murders over the first five months of 2016, many have seen a significant increase in armed robberies, house and shop breaking a, car jacking a and thefts and other violent crimes. While there has been no specific reason for the reductions in murder except some believe there has been a reduction in gang activities (other believe "dey mussy getting tired 'a killin up one another" the increases in most other crimes are due to increase unemployment and more difficult economic times.
If you follow through what's happening in the US and other parts of the world, the argument has moved from sexual equality to 'sexual identity'. Question like "who is a male"and "who is a female" are being asked. So is the question about transsexuals: When do they change from being one sex to another sex. Also questions about new norms: "When are the sexes of new horns determined, despite whatever sexual organs they are born with?" And yes the question of homosexuals who marry same sexes. Will one or the other be allowed to reclassify their sex from male to female or vice versa? The whole issue is too complicated, too suspect and too far ranging to get majority support, especially when one considers that these are only the first in a series of amendments that has been proposed.
While the PLP is bragging about their successes things to ponder:
1. While they are bragging about how successfully they implemented VAT: But VAT is the reason why the economy is drying up and the unemployment figures are continuing to increase. VAT is suppose to be a "replacement" tax and ***not***an additional tax. Meaning your government was suppose to remove and/or reduce accustoms duties as the VAT was implemented. But they did token reductions at the beginning and have kept customs duties on most items. So they killing people. . 2. Gambling Reform: They went against the NO vote and decided to regularize and tax gaming. This was good as it prevented a lot of cash from leaving the country and also allowed government to realize substantial tax revenue from the number houses. However more should be done to regularize and control the number of gaming houses (and liquor stores) in residential areas. Never mind *Super Value* is now putting gaming kiosks in *all* of its eighteen stores. 3. BAMSI....fire, fire and more fire! dormitory not rebuilt yet, money was allocated, no word on government being reimbursed for building loss in fire. Farmers still have same problem as before Bamsi. Getting their produce to market. Social services have thousands of welfare receipients. Why not include Bamsi and local farmer produce in their benefit. Put local stations where they can collect produce every week. Too much money spent for what is being benefitted. 4. Road traffic department and department of corrections..what do they have in common..ask ***goddy*** 5. Urban Renewal...rainy season, hurricane season back again and still so many have not yet received relief yet they contractors were paid. 6 Bah Mar..can you speak Chinese..hotel no open yet..peenty people no workin yet..no have money to buy pepper snake.. 7.Did this government build any low cost homes in 5 year? just asking. 8 And that brings us to mortage relief..for whom? 9 Is it available at Bank of the Bahamas? 10 Are your lights still on. The DPM says your bill was reduced by BPL and now caused by the world wide reduction in oil prices. 11 Southern Bahamas and hurricane relief..are they still there? 12 Rubis oil spill 13 Dump fires 14 Road works..Wulff Road..Village Road..even parts of Shirley street
But because of a weak or invisible opposition..they stand a chance of winning again.
When I was in college in the US, we as a group of Bahamian students, celebrated every Bahamian holiday. We got the grouper and the conch and the peas and rice. Kalik was not around then but we made Bahamian drinks and eventually our parties became so big and so popular that other foreign students wanted to join. We formed the International students Association. The Goombay is still celebrated in Coconut Grove, Florida and many Bahamian events in Europe and Canada. If the Haitians want to celebrate their day here with flags, and national leaders are invited it should not be an issue.
What Branville and the DNA need to do is to keep tredgin forward, strengthening the party, getting some more seasoned and experienced candidates, and good financial support and thereby become the most viable opposition to the PLP and with a possibility of winning the elections and forming the government on its own. Then the FNM will have no choice but to meet the DNA in a more compromising and agreeable mode. The FNM has been f.battling the same issues since Hubert Minnis took over: internal fighting and washing dutty laundry in the public, lack of cohesion and unity and no clear direction coming from the leadership. Once the DNA positions itsself properly and readies its election machinery it will benefit from campaign funds that will become available to the opposition. Don't get bogged down in the mud trying to negotiate with the FNM and allow the PLP to take this election without even a sweat,
