More small and medium businesses have folded and gone under in the Bahamas in the last 3 - 4 years, probably than any other time in recent history of the Bahamas. The reason being that despite the high cost and great risk and low profitability of these companies doing business, government sought to tighten the screws on them, increase taxes and put more operating restrictions. This is being done in the middle of a long and persistent recession, when government should, instead, be throwing these businesses a life line. Yet unemployment remains in double digits. Will it be too late before government realizes it cannot tax itself into prosperity. The amount of taxes it has burdened these businesses with is unbearable and the VAT revenue which it is now collecting and bragging about is unsustainable. Most of it is due to double taxation. A quart of mayonnaise cost $6, a gallon of milk $9 and a 12 once of locally produced water is selling in the airport for $4.32. MY GOD!

Money Talks: how much you have to lose that Fred Smith and his (just as bad) band wagon, will get their way with closing down Black Beard's Cay, before the vendors regain peaceful access to Cabbage Beach. And guess what? It's all about economics and the desire to make money, forget the ReEarth packaging. The persons who oppose Black Beard Cay feel it threatens their income. BTW did you hear about the Iraq businessman who was sentenced to death by execution for stealing over $3 billion of that country's oil revenue? Despite offering to pay the money back with interest and penalties, the court wants to enforce its ruling because of the nature of the crime...meanwhile in the Bahamas...

Do you know more handguns are sold illegally than what are sold with a permit? Gun manufacturers and dealers go after the illegal gun markets around the world because of the great demand for guns and the high profits. They are not bothered that their guns are being used in crime and many used to take innocent lives. That is why many gun manufacturers/dealers, especially in the USA, oppose stiffer gun laws. And because many of them are highly connected to politicians they are getting their way to make and sell their deadly weapons. When was the last time you heard of someone (in the USA) being charged with the illegal manufacturer or distribution of weapons? Now how many persons are in jail for possession of small amounts of illegal drugs? And every time you travel through an airport, you basically have to strip before you get on a plane. Get the picture now?

American Airlines has merged with United Airlines to form the biggest airline in the world. They are noe offering each passenger who travels during this period a free credit card for the first year and 5000 bonus miles. These bonus miles will allow passenger s to fly free anywhere in the UDA, Canada or the . Of course AA will make money when the traveller takes along a second person or a family or when they use the credit card. Most will become loyal customers because of the flyer miles, the credit card and othet on board and booking promotions. Bahamasair cannot make a profit on it's short Family Island and Florida routes alone do it has to expand its wings. Of course with AA flying newer, faster, more guel efficient equipment and offering other incentives thr US market will become more diffivult. Some 110 American (various airlines) daily flights are schefule to begin to Cuba this summer. When Bahamasair had the option to switch to faster, more efficient jets like American Eagle and most short run did, they chose to stay with the turbo prop which is almost obselete

On Bahamasair in 34% loss slash

Rise up against all of them. Government and the foreigners who tiefin your beach rights. They know they were entering into dirty, racially motivated, anti-Black, anti-Bahamian deals when they made them. Their hands are not clean and neither are their hearts pure,so don't try to make them out to be innocent victims. They are racist carpet baggers! Pindling and Nelson Mandella fought and brought an end to this bullsh!t years ago. Either the fences come down and the gates open or let them pack their bags and take their racism with them. Bahamians do not let them take your beach rights

Seems like this man and this government would sell out their own mothers, much less the Bahamian people. Bahamians have been robbed, bamboozled, overtaxed, misled, lied to, had and disenfranchised by this government more than any time in modern history of the Bahamas. Time to buy one of them ole fashion slop buckets and make sure their candidates have to wear raincoats when they come campaigning to your house and they have to take urgent showers when they leave. Just saying.
