Watch the US presidential race closely. The concern around the world grows as Donald Trump makes his way closer to the White House. His hot headedness, loose lips, offending of entire races and nationalities and policy of exclusion is cause for concern and his election will definitely have an impact on the world economy and social stability
They are also preparing for the long anticipated crash of the US dollar. When the US dollar crashes it is expect that the Chinese currency will become the currency for international trade . The Chinese will use the monies owing on these stalled projects around the world as a hedge against its own currency collapsing due to the huge debt the US owes it, along with other countries, that they may be unable to repay, due to the collapsed US $. Basically China will have the entire world by its testicles.

There are so many more variables so as not to make the termination of workers a number one priority in BEC's restructure. More efficient equipment, a cheaper variety of fuels, the 80% fall in oil prices, the increased demand for electricity, just to name a few. Is power secure just another union busting, wrecking train that will come hear, suck all the profits from BEC, add charges like BTC is doing and the consumers will still be left with high electricity costs, insufficient power supply, unreliable service and just another pain in the a$$ets of Bahamians/ We will see. Has the slave masters returned?
Wow..the devil's backbone. The shoals come right out the water and in your face. You only have a small margin of error between the shoreline and the shoals. You can get beached or get shipwrecked. But one would assume that a large boat like the fast ferry (Bo Hengy) would go out onto the ocean then come around to the channel, but that is also the North Side (that destroys the glass window bridge) so maybe they should have stayed in port until the seas subsided. . . "***The waters surrounding Eleuthera are home to a disproportionately large number of wrecks (even accounting for its position in the Bermuda Triangle!) The cause of most of these wrecks has been a rock formation known as the Devil's Backbone (including its western portion commonly known as Egg Island Reef), although the reef off of James Point is not far behind in sheer number of shipwrecks***."
The fact is when this government came to power I suggested that they continue with the road improvement works and other infrastructural works, not only in New Providence but in the major family islands to get some people back to work. But look around our roads are in caves and all the other major infrastructure are in disrepair. Yet they brag about how much more VAT they are collecting than they expected. Where is the extra money going? They have contracted private companies to patch the roads but the patches fall in decay even before the repair work is complete. Carmichael road is over congested. Why not make that into four lanes like Prince Charles and put hundreds of Bahamian men to work for at least two years? What about sending teams to the family islands that were damaged by the hurricane to do road works and other infrastructure? The fact is that every person who is unemployed will have a college degree and some may not have completed high school, but these people too need jobs. They are the ones who drive the economy because when they have money they spend it immediately and put it back in the economy. Rather than built one great big colossal project like Bah Mar, Jamaica is investing 2.5 billion in six hotel properties. Each hotel will have no more than 500 rooms and each will have its own attractions and special features. Unlike Bah Mar, the majority workers on all the projects will be local Jamaicans.
The boost in retail food sales can mean more than one thing. For example the number of people travelling abroad to do grocery shopping has declined as the local shipping companies. like Betty K. and The Mailboat can attest. Secondly more persons may no longer afford to 'eat out' on a regular basis, so they are purchasing more food stuffs to cook at home. Also AML has been putting out some good specials over the past few months and so, yes, they may have increased their traffic and sales volume. The prices on a number of food staples, like chicken, rice and other items have come down so people can purchase more.
So did anyone notice that the murder count for January 2016 is DOWN by 7 under last year's January when 15 murders were officially recorded? That is a forty seven percent decrease!!! But while that is good news, and despite the murder rate still being too high, February does not seem to fare too well. Last year 8 murders were recorded in February, but four has already been recorded this year with 20 days left in the month. But not to overlook the 47% decrease in murders in January. Go thank your minister of national security. Encourage him and maybe the count will stay under 100 this year. Together we can or can we?
The fact is China EXiM bank put itself solidly between a rock and a hard place. By taking full control over Bah Mar and excluding the Izmirilian group it will now be the sole entity having to suffer the losses associated with the project. That is with the exception of the smaller contractors and minor creditors, some of whom may never get paid. And not only is the bank not yet receiving any returns from the $3.5 billion project but it now worry itself about the depreciation and deterioration that is occurring while the project sits idle. The question is where does it cut its losses.
