I am convinced someone is advising this government how to put every financial burden conceivable on Bahamian people to make their lives hard as it can get. It is now cheaper to catch a cab to the airport than to park for the weekend. Despite the falling price of oil, electricity remains high, yet your government plans to add a bond tax to your light bill. Where is the money BEC is saving from the near 80% decrease in fuel. One years savings could pay off BEC's entire debt so why the need for bonds? Gas at the pumps remains unreasonably high despite the price in the US being under $1.50 in the US and expecting to be around $1.00 by June. Who is benefiting from this 'spread' on what gas is being purchased for and the price it is being sold at? Now the bridge toll doubles.
I would hold on to my belief that GOD is still in control. He moves people into certain places and positions for a reason and a purpose. When Josephs brothers sold him into slavery, they never knew the strength of the seed they were sowing. God knows the minds and the thinking of Bahamians and so he is acting accordingly. . "A man’s greatest strengths are often also the source of his greatest weaknesses. A man who has strong convictions, who speaks out boldly for God’s truth, if he’s not careful can become harsh or unkind. On the other hand, a man oozing with love and compassion can err by tolerating everything and everyone, thus compromising God’s truth. The latter error seems to me to be the more common danger in the church. Often, in the name of love and out of the desire to promote unity, Christians have compromised with the world.
For example, the world’s most famous evangelist, Billy Graham, whose personal integrity is impeccable and whose preaching proclaims the gospel, at the same time, out of a sincere desire to reach the widest possible audience, has often invited men of liberal theology and famous people who are at best immature Christians to participate in his crusades. This leaves the impression that there is no substantial difference, theologically or morally, between what Graham proclaims and what these people represent. Some would defend Graham by saying, “Look at all the people who get saved!” But our standard always needs to be, “Is it biblical?” not, “Does it work?” And by way of long-term results, Scripture is clear: Any compromise with the world, whether in doctrine, morals, or relationships, has disastrous consequences.
The story of Jehoshaphat is about a godly, good king with a major weakness for compromise with the world
The greatest losers in this whole affair was the school lunch vendors who had to give away or dump thousands of dollars in prepared lunches. Had it not been a weekend they may could have salvaged some of it but better to err on the side of caution..I guess
Two wrongs still does not make a right....he could have gotten bailiffs and have the people remove their belongings before the demolition.."Sir" in front of he pa name does not excuse his inhumane actions! Try evicting a tenant they way he did and see what happens..to you! Then explain the injuring and killing of animals??? Let me guess..they were party's to the dispute as well? Woe unto ye lawyers...william
Not only should there be a zero deficit but government must expl what is happening to the $700 million BEC is realizing each year in savings from fuel price reductions. And the price is getting even lower and the savings are increasing. If this government had any kind of conscience seeing that the VAT revenues have overshot their target, then they should reduce some of the tax burden on businesses so as to encourage a continued working relationship and partnership.
Christie say when you go to God and pray for something you must come back to him because he is prime minister. Well people been praying for Bah Mar to open and many lose faith in prayer and went back to the pm. So now if and when Bah Mar opens will it be by the grace of God or by the power of Perry Christie? It is obvious the Chinese are in no hurry to see this project up and running, for whatever reason. This was the original cry of Izmirilian but Christie say Izmirilian was a crazy man. Now Christie have to do battle with the same Chinese he sided with just a few short months ago against the original, legitimate investor. What is going to happen when the Pointe is 99% complete? Open your eyes that you may see. Country being held in economic hostage? Who is the major beneficiary of most of the construction work at both of these projects?
Regardless of who is the rightful owner to the property, I always think it is downright disgraceful and unGodly to demolish buildings with people's personal property in them. The law should move against this and only after all efforts have failed to vacate them should occupied buildings be demolished.
Corruption is a social danger because it feeds organized crime, it drives up the cost of doing business, it denies opportunities to honest and hardworking citizens; it destroys the future.
