Obviously you didn’t even read the article, yet you come here with your sullying. The patients are not suffering from Covid-19 but from regular everyday illnesses. READ, Bahamas Read! And furthermore, NONE of the vaccines are effective against Omicron or any of its sub variants.
What the police force needs to do is learn ( for lack of a better word) to separate domestic or local crime from staged and/or international crime. Yes, the country has its share of gangs and violent criminals and troublesome youth even. But even they have their restrictions and limitations. And when there are over seventy four murders and the majority of them remain unsolved, then you must start looking above the fray. Who else would want young, Bahamian men dead? Who else would want The Bahamas to be labeled as murder ridden, violent and crime infested? Go on social media, for example, and question why someone in their 50’s living all the way across the other side of the world has intricate details about the crime situation here and even more specifics about certain crimes than the police. Houston we have a problem.
@ Thisis ours: part of what you are saying is incorrect. The Bahamas did not experience a surge in April-May but a full wave of Covid. It was a sub variant of the Omicron strain. Because the symptoms were mild and hospitalizations and deaths were relatively low, the fifth wave was barely reported. The Bahamas and most of the world are now going through a sixth wave which is a sub variant of the Omnicron sub-variant. Or you can call it the grandchild of Omicron. It is spreading more rapidly than Omicron and the omicron sub-variant did but , again the symptoms are mild and barely noticeable. Most people don’t know they have it unless they have to take a test. The symptoms are flu-like with scratchy throat. And the CDC is now recommending that persons, especially those who travel wear masks.. . my opinion is that these waves will continue to come but the symptoms will be less and less severe until Covid-19 becomes just a ripple and withers away. . . It is also apparent that countries, like The Bahamas, that have some restrictions in place masks, sanitizing distancing etc and faring better than countries , like the US, that have none, or Countries, like China that still have lockdowns. In fact China has a lot of catching up to do to be on par with the rest of the world. One scientist says both herd immunity and natural immunity are now in effect, and as more people develop a resistance to the virus ( get it and recover) Covid-19 will eventually burn itself out.
The Tribune treated this story like it was running out of space. Or that it got the information when the newspaper was already being printed. But O not to forget not long ago under the former minister of national security when he claimed some 30 plus persons were arrested when Blackhawk helicopters swooped down on sleeping townships in the middle of the night and were scheduled to make court appearances to face major crime charges. In the end, less than a handful of persons were actually taken before the courts to face such charges and most of the persons who had been ‘kidnapped and abducted’ by police were charged for being vocal about being disturbed in the heat of the night and others who had recorded the event on their cellphones. . .
And with less than persons being charged with less than 25 percent of the 75 plus murders committed this year, it is not conclude or difficult to maintain that murders in this country, may be committed by persons other than Bahamians . . And that is in no way to detract or undermine the hard work being done by most of the police officers on the force. But if the criminals they are searching for are, in fact ‘ghosts’, then they will either continue to come me up empty handed and/or innocent persons will be charged with crime
The US has the resources, the intelligence, the experience and the power to bring this violence in all these countries to an end. ninety nine percent of weapons used in gun violence in this part of the world are made in America. Just the tightening of its gun controls and more effort to reduce gun trafficking even in partnership with affected countries can reduce murders.
Based on police statistics:/ information, there are more killers on the loose for the last 74 murders than who have been captured and charged, true or false ?
Do you know why Donald Trump was so paranoid about America’s southern border? MS-13. This was a gang created in California made up of Hispanics by you know who during the 1970’s and 80’s and allegedly became the bloodiest gang on the face of the earth. At one point the murders got so bad in Guatemala, innocent people went to police stations and begged to police to lock them in the jail cells for safety. As jail’s became filled with members of this gang a decade or so later, the US government decided to empty its jails of these gang members. But rather than releasing them back onto the streets of California, they loaded these blood thirsty criminals and killers on jets and shipped them to their respective countries, Honduras, Gautamala, Mexico, Venezuela and other countries where these gangs took control of the streets and cause the murder rates in these countries to double, triple and even quadruple. In fact the US had intelligence that the bloodshed got so bad in some of these countries, even the gang members were now trying to escape. And so they were sneaking back into America. But not back to the streets of Los Angles and other crime torn cities. But into suburban America. Then there was the talk about ‘sleeper cells.’ Gangs of criminals and ‘terrorists’ that will eventually rise up and wreak havoc on unsuspecting America. Hence Trump’s paranoia. Close to 400 acts of mass gun violence thus far this year already. Hundreds left dead and even more injured. None of the acts perpetrated by the MS-13 gang, but by born and bred Americans. Not only what is learned at home taken abroad, but what is taken abroad eventually comes back home. Time for this Bahamas to stop the window dressing and cut to the chase. Until you identify the real cause of violent crime and especially murder in this country, young men will continue to die. At an increasing rate. Stop chasing false flags and do your own intelligence duddy!
Officials in that country are saying that the US is going into a fifth wave of Covid as numbers have increased 11 percent over the past few weeks. This country also saw an (unannounced) wave of Covid (April-May after the Omicron strain wave. Little attention was given even probably because the symptoms were mild and deaths and hospitalizations were low, even though numbers increased significantly.
The problem is when police have to get involved ( in a matter) it is almost already too late. And how does authorities go into a situation where the culture is not only to bear arms, but to use them in a deadly manner. What is the driving force behind these murders? Are the gangs as great a factor as they are said to be or are they mostly gangs of loosely organized people that have more reputation than power? Does police intelligence show that any or a number of the recent killings are connected or connected to gangs? How many persons have been apprehended and charged with the recent murders? How does government intend to speed up the court process for murders? Besides the appointment of ‘violence interruptors’. What other plans does government have for communities prone to gun violence? What efforts will be directed to finding out how guns are entering in the country and who is responsible? What is the relationship between high unemployment and deadly crime and what plans does government have to ease unemployment?
