If you look and see who were the benefactors of the Anticipated Bah MAr success then you could understand why the deal went south. It was all selected Bahamians and paper Bahamians. While Bah Mar got thousands of acres of prime Bahamian acearge for nought and hundreds of millions in concessions the only benefit to the average Bahamian was jobs while the political elite and others planned to hog up everything. The same way a hog eats is the same way he passes waste and Bah Mar has popped on the entire Bahamas. You included! Happy Independence still.
Well you won't know what his legacy will be but at least Perry Christie can say he was prime minister during one of the most challenging times in Bahamian history. He been putting out fires from day one.
We all is one. No one is blaming the PM for trying to rescue Bah Mar. Yes the opening and success for that resort can do wonders for this country. But much more Bahamians than the 2000 at Bah Mar are hurting and going to bed hungry and losing their businesses and losing their homes and look what this government done. Put levies and late fees and surcharges on every tax. So they think bah Mar was more important that the small struggling man over the hill? They give them all the concessions, but for the small man "tax on every thing!" From business license to VAT . Nothing wrong with killing a few thousand small men to feed the big giant golden calf!
Bahamians needs to take out a Chapter 11 bankruptcy order against the government before they sink this country trying to play the search and rescue game. Look at the number of Bahamian businesses that continue to crash and burn and government does absolutely nothing to help them. If fact. While your caring government was running around with blinders trying to rescue Bah Mar and agreeing to pay their staff with tax payer dollars, that very same government has police, headed by a very intoxicated officer, in the most impoverished parts of New Providence shutting down local businesses and threatening to lock up the owners and employees. Two thousand workers at Bah Mar. Vs many struggling Bahamians in Bain and Grants Town...are we there yet?
I tried to explain this to a banker that the vat was drawing too much out of the already stagnated economy. This along with the increase in web shop activity and the lay-offs and uncertainty of Bah Mar's opening has caused a significant fall off in business, especially in retail. The banker said that had nothing with my being late on my loan payments. So I went and paid the loan off and told him some un-biblical words. Now he has more money sitting in his bank that he cannot find no one qualified to borrow.
Perry Christie said out of his own mouth that even after you go to God and pray, you have to come back to him to get what you want because he is the prime minister. So God put the prime minister on a world stage and allowed him to get "clothslined" by this Bah Mar saga. Christie was so sure he could bring resolve to the Bah Mar standoff, he was willing to preempt the budget debate and ignore other national matters to run back and forth like a headless chicken, between the Bah Mar parties trying to get the matter settled. And his pomp and cockiness grew as he felt the matter would get resolved. It would be more than just one feather in his hat to solve this matter. But that was not going to happen, at least not yet. In fact Izmirilen dug himself deeper into the trenches and brought out the heavy artillery for war fare. He filed for bankruptcy, more like to protect his own interest, but to the utter shock and embarrassment of the other parties and to the dismay and nn belief of the workers, who are caught up in the middle of all this Why are we trying to turn Bah Mar into a golden calf when Atlantis has taught us many lessons? WHy? Now that God has humbled Christie, those who are affected by this only need to go on their knees and pray and Bah Mar will open quicker that any of us expect. Then Christie, too will know, it is God who is in control. 'When my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray, then shall I hear from heaven and heal their land." Man may change but the word of God never changes. July 10, Independence, national day of prayer and worship., even if in your own house.

The one thing this government should NOT is take possession of Bah Mar and try to operate it. We would find ourselves in a worse position than Greece
