This is a clarion call to make checks of all service stations, especially in populated areas for leaks past and present . It is also time to crack down on those roadside garages and backyard garages ( bush mechanics) who have been pouring oil, transmission fluid and other petroleum waste products in the ground for many years. And most of them are in populated areas. Our eco system is so delicate and sometimes we don't know the true effects of our actions. For example most of the coral reefs around New Providence are dead or what is called "bleached out". For years the environmental experts were saying this was caused by fishermen using chlorine bleach to chase lobster out of the reefs. While the chlorine may have did its damage new research is showing that pollution, especially human fecal matter , is the main culprit behind the coral bleaching. When the pollution gets on the reef, it introduces new strains of bacterium that kills of the bacteria that is usually on the reef and serves is a protection for the coral. Once the bacteria dies so does the coral and all other life on the reef.

FNM and DNA. Must tell the electorate and the Bahamian that they will have no corruption in their government, that they will get the economy moving, that they will fix crime, say what their policy will be on NHI and immigration and public disclosure. How they will address the national debt. Will there be additional increases in taxes, or reductions.

Governments around the world are under siege. Seems we built societies that we could not maintain. Immorality and materialism were the order of the day. Then when the bottom fell out of the economy, we were like the naked emperor, exposed to the world for what we are really worth. But a change is coming.

The PLP is starting to win its popularity back with the grassroots. It has successfully stage the two biggest international events to be held in the Bahamas. Even though carnival is set to be rained out BEC may be a cash cow (like BTC) in a few years. Even though the licensing and regularising of web shops was not the popular thing to do at the time, economically it will be proven that it was the right thing to do. Time heals wounds and so far both opposition parties are failing to demonstrate they can become a viable alternative government. They seem to spend too much time throwing stones at the PLP. If the PLP manages to get murder and crime down and a delayed opening of Bah Mar delivers expected jobs and kick starts (no not jump. Just s kick). 2017 is gonna be a difficult year to unseat this government, scandals and all.

Let's not kill the pig before its born. The fact is they are trying to fix BEC and this company is known for innovative technologies as it has subsidiary companies that specialize in green and renewable energy. Since it is a U.S. Based company it will be savvy to letting consumers produce energy and sell it back to the grid or at least negative metering. Even a 20% reduction in electricity can translate into a significant reduction in the cost of living and if they can generate enough supply, consumers will not only be able to afford electricity but they will have an uninterrupted supply. Power Secure should be up and running before May 2017.

You are talking about the back-up battery system they introduced yesterday. That one is for people who live in areas where they have different rates for electricity. It collects electricity when the rates are low and switches to batteries when the rates are high. The one they introduced today has batteries and a solar wall (not panels). Their purpose is to move to renewable energy and to service remote areas.
