read between the lies: It is not the Bahamas Government that is pushing for VAT. It is the international community. The US government, The IMF, The world bank. VAT is not just a tax, it is a tracking system to know who owns what, who they do business with, where they keep their monies, where they spend it..etc. So those foreigners, US citizens especially, who have assets hidden in the Bahamas will be uncovered eventually. Uncle Sam is gonna get ya a$$!
the simple defence to anyone charged for not reigstering for vat prior to december 31 st: " Your honor, I do not plan to be in business come January 1, so I did not register for VAT." There's no rule, no law, no regulation that says you can't come back. So I have every right to come back". Lance Armstrong. Using taxes to punish the rich, in reality, punishes everyone because we are all interconnected. High taxes and excessive regulation and massive debt are not working.
Rand Paul add to that corruption and government wastage! Rogue economics is a sort of umbrella under which we find the criminal economy, the illegal economy, but also those gray areas, gray areas where there is not a proper regulation, where there is not legislation for the economy.
they ain't serious: you do the math! . Number of murders this year : 106 . Number of persons arrested and charged with murder : around 60 . Number of murder trials this year : around 10 . Meaning there are at least 40 persons who killed someone this ear who have not been charged. . Meaning there are at least 90 persons who have taken someone's life this year and have not been brought to trial. . now add the figures for last year: . Meaning there are also about 90 animals who have committed murder who have not faced justice.
go a lil bit further: . how many persons have committed m u r d e r in the past ten years and (1) have ever been charged (2) never beed brought to trial (3) have not been convicted (4) have not been sentenced????? . i wait while you count more than 600. . when parliment reconvenes again everyone who has had a friend, relative, loved one murdered in this country and there was no justice given should be in parliment square with a picture of their loved one and a gallon of red paint. blood red!!! pour red paint and let it run like blood in the square because they aint serious! let ten thousand gallons of red paint flow from parliment square down to the sea until these jokers stop the killings in this country . “It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets.” ― Voltaire . . “The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers.” ― William Shakespeare, King Henry VI, Part . “rain slowly slides down the glass as if the night is crying.” ― Patricia Cornwell, Trace . “The police seemed to think I killed her, which is crazy, because I loved her like a thousand drops of blood dripping down a dagger.” ― Jarod Kintz, This Book Has No Title
There is no one solution to fix the problems we face. So it has to be a concerted effort, multi pronged and sustained over a number of years. We need to get to these young men years before the police have to get involved. The education system needs to be revamped to be more attractive to the male student, an also one that can cater to students that are not academically inclined. Rather than keeping students who are failing after grade 9 and bringing the national grade point average to a "D", these students should be allowed to take up a vocation or learn a trade. As to how to replace the missing male or father in the family and the shortage of male teachers in the school is difficult to answer. One suggestion I offered a few years ago is when these mothers take the 'baby daddys' to court for child support, both the mother and 'baby daddy' be required to attend counseling sessions where they are taught the importance of both parents being involved in the child's life and also the damage the mother does to the child when she uses it as a weapon to get money from the baby's father or to spite him.
The Symnonettes interest in Commonwealth Bank alone is more than $700 million and the Johnstones are said to be worth more but there is a Bahamian even more wealthy than them who was earning up to $20 million some months just on his investments in the stock market alone.
