From the New York Times: . "A doctor in New York City who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea became the first person in the city to test positive for the virus Thursday, setting off a search for anyone who might have come into contact with him."
The intention is not to cause panic but to make persons aware of what is going on.
Did you know that they are testing at least 5 vaccines they plan to start using in West Africa by the middle of next year. This means that everyone who does not have the disease and pose a risk of being exposed to it it will have to be vaccinated.
Imagine the cost (and profit to the drug companies) if this has to be done worldwide or at least in high risk areas only.
based on the current rate of infection (the number of cases doubles every 20 days) every single Bahamian can have EBOLA within 13 months after the first case appears in the Bahamas. (180 days) To put in more real terms if a case of Ebola is discovered in the Bahamas today, every Bahamian can be infected by December next year (2015). Based on a mortality death rate of 70 percent 245,000 (Two Hundred and Forty Five Thousand) Bahamians can be dead within 180 days of the disease hitting the Bahamas. But that is not the bleakest outlook as the Ebola is expected to mutate and become an airborne virus. The infection rate will increase and so will the loss of life.
The problem with statistics is that everyone can extrapolate figures to mean something different or to support a position they want to take. If it rains all day today and tomorrow and we have a very rainy weekend, that alone cannot determine if we had above average or below average rainfall for the year. So the commissioner is correct when he maintains that rape crimes are down year over year despite there being a recent spike in the crime. And you should also not that there was also an increase in murder, robberies and other violent crimes recently. Does this mean that the downward trend has come to an end on crime of this was just a spike in crime caused by some social or economic factor.
I never said AIDS was airborne. What I said was that EBOLA is eventually expected to become an airborne virus and that is when the number of cases will escalate to epidemic then to endemic proportions. the reason why some countries are looking to cancel large crowd events: At the current rate the number of EBOLA victims doubles every 20 days. Each Ebola victim infects at least two other people. So by the end of January of infections will be 1,500,000 if the infections continue at this rate. By the time Junkanoo Carnival comes around in May 2015, the number of infections could be 7,000,000 (seven million). BUT Canadian officials expect the disease to be 'an airborne virus" in a matter of months and if his happens then the rate of infections can be in the tens of millions by mid 2015. In fact not long after that it is expected that, the only way ***not*** to get the disease will be to get a vaccine against it. Now you know why they are taking Ebola patients to the US. They need the live virus to make the serum. The US has sent 2000 (two thousand) national guards men to West Africa to help 'combat' the disease and other countries are also sending troops who have little or no medical training. Will these troops be used as guinea pigs to collect virus samples once they return to their respective countries? They are now only testing the 'hazardous' gear and thus far they do not guarantee against getting the virus.
Confirmed case of Ebola in NY. The cases of Ebola is increasing 20 fold daily, Every patient that has the disease infects two persons. The number of cases expected to be 1.5 million by January. (the same amount of casket liners the US govnernent has in storage. The disease is expected to become airborne (unlike AIDS) and then become endemic Meaning you will not able to survive it unless you get a vaccine)
It would interesting to find who are the many who express shock and concern about men taking control of and disciplining their wives or female spouses. In all parts of the animal kingdom where there is a relationship between two creatures one takes control and in most instances it is the male. There are no mammals where the male does not take control offering guidence and protection to his mate and offspring. Even in gay and lesbian relationships one partner takes control of the other and it is usually the one playing the role of the "man". In fact in lesbian relationships it is reported that butch lesbians are more controlling and disciplining than regular males in a hetrosexual relationship.
Mrs. Sandra Dean-Patterson was in the media calling for stiffer penalties for persons who commit rape. In fact she was calling for life imprisonment of rape offenders. While well intention Mrs. Dean-Patterson should be aware that increasing the penalty for rape to that of murder could lead to the undesired increase in murder rather than an expected decrease in rape. A person who commits rape and realizes he may face life imprisonment may choose to dipense of his victim.
Do you know that the US government held a patent to the Ebola virus since 2007? It claims rights to all variences and mutations of the virus all research done on the virus and all drugs and medications developed to combat Ebola. What does that tell you?
