Bogart .....another interesting fact about the Banks taking web shops money will come to head in a few weeks when a major local web shop company will be going public with the necessary regulatory approvals. Members of the public many of whom will paticipate and are the clients of the local canadian banks will be expecting their little funds to be deposited in these commercial banks. where they have been customers for years. It will be very interesting to see who will accept Dividends deposits from this company because it is a very profitable company. I think the Canadian banks should accept the funds because it will be investment income and not gambling funds, if not BOB will get a whole lot of new customers,.
I Blame all the escalating Crime in the Bahamas on soft political leaders we have had since the year 2000. My fellow readers, have you ever head of crime in CUBA or North Korea. I am not aadvocating for us to adopt a communist or totalatarian system of government but i am simply ssaying Fear is not in the criminal element in this country and until we put Fear back in all of the criminal element is this society, crime will continue to escalate. How do we put fear back in the criminals. hang, castrate, cat-o-nine tail ...f*#k the human rights groups,F#*K the privy council in london...Politicians get some balls and make it happen. The average criminal running around in this country was either not born, or a child when the last hanging took place. So ask your selves people....where is the FEAR going to come from in them ...IT simply does not exist
The answer to your questions about God is very complex, God is omnipresent, he is every where, all Hurricanes are apart of his surpreme Being, The earth is the lord and the fullness there off, The world and they that dwell therein.Storms have a Purpose, Nature is God,Hurricanes are gods way of moving heat from one part of the planet and balancing the Temperature of the air and seas. Just as in war there are innocent casualties , Acts of nature cause casualties and i would not even attempt to question or try to answer why God allows people to Die in severe acts of nature ... but i can say this, Worship him in spirit and in truth and he will reveal the answers to your questions even if he takes years to do so.
Thanks for this article Mr Coulson. ..I am also a local Bahamian investor with ordinary shares in Cable Bahamas and your article brings clarity to what is wrong with the share price on BISX for a company of this stature in our society. The transitional stage CAB is in hopefully will be very short lived and i totally agree that the larger institutuonal investors should have maintained its prior 3 yr share price appreciation after their last 3 for 1 share split thus avoiding the price free fall. The Government selling its 70 million that it owns in the Aliv holding Company should be sold ASAP and include Individuals, and retail investors to obtain the truest broadest distribution along with the stated pension funds, credit unions, insurance companies and institutional investors. that was stated policy under the last administration.,
For the first time in an independent Bahamas we have a government that is speaking about prudent government fiscal responsibility, accountability and through the legal process, prosecuting those who are found to be guilty and corrupt . Fiscal Responsibility-type legislation if passed into law will prevent this mess from happening again in the future. We do not want to go the way of countries like Greece with a dept to GDP ratio of 179 % (2016). We as a country have to much protential and with this new government it seams that the small steps we are beginning to take will is a very encouraging sign. Hope fully the rating agency will give one last change with no further downgrade. Bahamians as a people need to become more discipline as a people and not try to live to much of the american big time life style.. In the near term its going to get very rough before it gets better. Only the strong will survive. . .
The government can immediately take $70 million of the $722 million it intends to borrow if it sell the Aliv shares and include retail clients, and individuals in the sales for true broadest distribution. with the cutbacks tacking place , Moody's will be impressed and cancel the down grade and maintain our rating until the economy improves because the cutbacks already announced are already saving millions.
The Government need to adjust the terms of this offering to include the Small retail investor and individuals who have brokerage accounts and are interested it purchasing Aliv shares .....come on Mr Bowe convince them ...then the offering would truly be the broadest possible spectrum of bahamian ownership. As it stands now this offering discriminates aganist the Bahamian investing public....Fix it !
Banker ..... You hit the nail right on the head in explaining that deal. The secret beneficial owners learned how to pull of that slick move from their late owner/CEO who did the same thing when he sold his shares in CB after their value had greatly increased. That was the first time Bahamains got swing from this company !
