If ya start HANGIN these murderers and crooks. The thieves/criminals will HUMBLE themselves. Hanging Execution is not banned here, it just has not happened in over a decade. This government could start hanging at any time! I dont see Barbados or Trinidad abolishing execution and they are still apart of the commonwealth. The government needs to focus on what we need rather than what other people are doing, let them stay right there minding this European Union on abolishing Execution. This country is spinning wildly out of control. This is not Europe! The Queen is only still head of the state because we are using her political system and I cant recall the last time she stepped foot in the Bahamas. Something to think about. People think about morals when it come to executions but you need to ask yourselves, were these blatant criminals & murderers concerned about MORALS when they are out there killing like savage beasts? We Bahamians need to stop hating each other and work together, its too much jealousy and spitefulness going today.
Sound's like these women are losing their pride. Time to think about expansion of the Female prison, its filling up like the all male Fox Hill. This country and its economic state are driving persons toward some serious desperate acts.
These copper thieves are blatant. Prime example: My grandmother came home one day and found a man in her back yard with a saw just hacking away at a discontinued water and sewage pipe. Yes the pipe is made of copper, had been there for years, and no longer being used. But how does this individual find himself on someones property taking something that is not even their own? This is one out the many incidents that this copper export is causing. She was scared to run the man away because he was armed with a hack saw and machete just hacking away out of desperation. If she had even tried to stop him or threaten him about it, he could have easily turned on her and the outcome could have been even worse. It only goes to show you the audacity and blatant disrespect these individuals have who make it their job to steal and scavenge around for this easy money metal.
Tal, Mr Miller was interviewed and said that he saw the two guys running from his building where they eventually discovered was vandalized. Anyone responsible enough to have a licensed firearm knows who to fire it at especially in this case. I mean the government just does not give out gun licenses like drivers licenses. There is a lot of investigation involved before you can even be considered eligible to own a gun. The government knows the liability of arming the public, and these licenses are very hard to come by. Mr Miller acted in the right way.
So what if it was you comrade Tal, Im sure you are more intelligent than that. If you come home or to your business and find thieves running away from destroying your property and with all your hard earned assets and you have licensed weapon on hand, are you not going to use it? Who said he was firing bullets wildly, were you there? Why would someone be in the back there by Robin Hood/Marios "innocently taking a leak in the bushes" That 'bushes' is property that belongs to somebody. As far as Mr. Miller knows, his weapon is licensed and he is firing in the direction of the thieves and, so what if they get injured or killed. That is the risk that these thieves take. They are thieves, not persons to have compassion for.
Its Funny how this is yesterday's news. I condone Leslie Miller for firing at those thieves. The thieves have no right to be on his property and no right to be stealing thousands of dollars worth of copper. He has a right to do what he did. I think that it could even be some of those former and/or current BEC workers because they know exactly where the copper is and how steal it, even from those high voltage components. The lousy police take hours to arrive anyway and by time they arrive, they only take notes/evidence and then you never hear from them or about your incident again. It is the government that is to be blamed for even allowing the export of copper and we don't even produce it. That's why the thieves are encouraged to steal it. It is easy money. The thieves now a days are disrespectful and blatant and if they are doing this in broad daylight it really shows how the morality in this country is lost. Even the churches are being targeted. This country for sale is going down, deeper than hell.
I agree with the more restaurants. Downtown Baystreet literally has a shut down time which is probably around 7pm with a handful of nightlife. In the evening, almost the entire baystreet is shut down apart from a handful of nightclubs that are scattered around. To be more effective, there really needs to be a focus on parking. Parking downtown is a nightmare and discouraging to some because of the long distances and security threats such as break ins and even car theft. If their can be better 'protected' parking that could encourage a lot more people to go downtown as well. There are also a lot of abandoned buildings that scold the beauty of downtown, many must go and take an assessment of what buildings are needed and what buildings need to be torn down.
I dont know why the government is playing this blind eye toward these web shops It is a monopoly. And now to consider Bahamians gambling in casinos without fixing the main problem with these Webshops, more hell is only going to break loose. Its seems that since these casinos are now interested in online/app gaming, the PM is now reconsidering the legality of the webshops. We the People have voted against it and still it continues to thrive. A sign that this democracy is only for pretty. We the People are not being served efficiently by the present government. Unemployment continues to rise. No investigations into the mishandling and low payment of the Bahamians that do have jobs. Ever since the govt took office, all I have heard and seen was this all of a sudden new agenda to focus on investors, loans and not the people. Do we not know that country is in debt? Do we not know that the more we borrow the more these investors will be entitled to many forms of compensation? This country is a country for sale and already crumbling from all the personal interests of the govt. The foreigners are given chances to come here, buy our lands, and take our much needed jobs, because they are given better opportunities in their own countries and now have a chance to try and take over someone else's. This government finds it hard to invest in the people. They only want the cookies in the jar. That national training agency or whatever it is called was a poor way to spend more money instead of focusing on the development and expansion of BTVI. They are only concerned about the cover of the book, but if anyone dares to read they wouldn't find anything because much of the information that the people need to know is not being accurately given in all aspects/areas of this society.
give all unregistered a big ride back, it will be one of the best investments. im talking flights out everyday, raids on unauthorized dwellings etc. i dont care if their airports are flooded with all the 'refugees' that we send back so that haiti can see how they are infecting and degrading other countries because of their lack of concern for their own people. let them deal with it, while we wash our hands. this is out of hand.
The Haitians that come/came here looking for a better life picked the wrong place on the map. Life is not good here for Bahamians alone so how is it that you think life will be better ? hmmm, it must be because of our 'selective enforcement' and carelessness toward serious immigration reform and land piracy. Its too late to change the law now, especially with 50k+ Haitians roaming around and/or living on untaxed lands/shanty towns. I mean you already brought the dengue fever, in soon enough time it will be scurvy etc and more diseases as a result of poor sanitized living. Life is simply free here for them whilst they take advantage of the jobs that the Bahamians seem to have too much pride for. The Bahamas will soon become a little Haiti. Stop feeling sorry for those that break the laws and enter our dwellings without consent. send them back cold turkey! We do not have anything like the 'Cuban Refugee Adjustment Act' here although it would not hurt to say that we do because it is obvious that the government rather push this one under the rug as another problem that has become to great to fix in a 5 yr term alone.
