A society that breeds criminals, is a society that is failing due to the poor economic nature of the country. The people are unemployed, hungry, uneducated, and desperate so therefore they will resort to the next measure which is to steal, rob, kill, and take justice into their own hands. This is a problem that was bound the take the country by storm. From the days of Pindling's swindling, the fast careless life of the 80's to the slowly severed drug kingpin era of the 90's. Then people bring up the church. Yes, ye old chapel. The church physically exists in terms of buildings, chairs and pulpits, but does it really influence the wild spirits of the modern Bahamian? I think not, we have become too diluted with the lusts and materials of life to ever respect the vehicle that carries the spirit. Only God can save us.
Happy that Ms Brown was able to take them to court. Hopefully this case brings awareness and revision to the outdated Employment Act, being the only case to ever come up in the system of this nature. The problem is, most Bahamians cannot afford the legal fees associated with taking this big lucrative organization to court. Even the Unions fail at serving Atlantis who always files an injunction while the cases end up stalemated. This is why Atlantis never goes the full length to ensure employees are treated well because they know that their complainants are unable to pursue any justice beyond their crafty letters, and underground Human Resource offices. Obviously who ever has been dealing with this matter on behalf of Atlantis was too lazy and not interested in procuring a less demanding position based on Brown's disability. They just decided to go the route that they always do which is to supply the former employee with a letter containing a well crafted termination rhetoric and an unfair severance check which is probably in the amount of the employees last pay check, along with unused vacation days, what ever bonuses that they may be entitled to, and a percentage based on the amount of years spent working for them which is always a slap in the face of the already over-worked, underpaid employee.
Let it be someone taking advantage of or stealing money in those amounts from your business or company that you are responsible for overseeing and then talk about what dollars was, and whos time was wasted. Hypocrite.
I told you all a very long time about this lady & of course it is revealing itself. You cannot blame Bannister for doing his job. Hate him all you want, he was elected and selected for the position that he has. The problem with Bahamians is that when they are told the truth, they are always under the impression that they are being lied to, and when people lie boldly in their faces they take it as honest truths. Many Bahamians are so selfish that they always think someone is out to get them. Aint nobody swinging anybody other than that corrupt Executive board at BPL hired on by your corrupt PLP & I applaud Bannister for dissolving the board before they cost the taxpayers more money over time. The one who makes the hard decisions is always the one that is hated but hard decisions must be made, this is business, nothing personal like the makeup, and security features for this lady who believes she is entitled and already gobbling up a massive salary to pay for many of her personal endeavors that she does not have to charge the company for (for example) out probably many conflicts committed by these same board members.
One would like to question why this Osborne woman with her level of so-called 'expertise' is always in these precarious positions when it comes to businesses & companies. Ive been saying before, she is bad for business, everything she touches seems to dwindle or fall apart eventually. Lets not forget she was the main puppeteer behind that major lay-off of the hard working Bahamians employed by BEC/BPL when they were all of a sudden asked to participate in a drug screening or be terminated 'scheme'. Many employees who never had to do this from when they were hired into their respective jobs & worked some 5, 10, even 15+ years with the company. If you are going to implement abrupt procedures such as this for example. It needs to take place throughout the entire company (executive board as well). This vindictive, narcissist is too high on a pedestal and does not notice or correct any of her own mistakes and passes the blame any chance she can get.
John is about to steal a boat & ram it into the devil's backbone if somebody doesn't watch him. Either way, the rise in suicide is of course appalling but we have to recognize how the various problems in the country affect the citizens. The poor & those who are trying to stay afloat. One doesn't simply take their life out of the blue, it is a thought about thing that develops in the mind over a span of time and depending on ones situation in life, it may finally lead them down that black hole. The people these days have it very hard. The hotel and government jobs can only provide so much, but without the education & training combined with experience, the common Bahamian will not be able to survive in the years to come. Some had good jobs, invested/took out loans, lost the job due to some bogus layoff, could not keep up with investments, now running from the bank & court system, and now running to suicide as a way out (this is just one out of many examples). The economy is too fragile. The people dont know what to do. High taxes, little to no income a recipe for disaster.
Ill say it now. Its cheaper that you invest in your own Solar Initiatives for your own home to cut costs on your electric bill to compensate for times of power outage as well. You will be waiting until Kingdom Come if you plan to wait until the Government implements this into the grid. That will take very long and many problems will arise as they try to do it. It is a shame that Governments present & prior talk so much of the future, but not one has taken advantage of the Sun's energy that blasts this poor country on a daily basis all throughout the year and implemented a much needed Solar Energy plant that could supply many islands especially the ones still reliant on Kerosene lanterns. This can save millions spent on fuel per year. We could have been the leaders in this industry within Atlantic Ocean/Caribbean realm. Yet we squabble for years over BEC/BPL & executive teams mumbo jumbo. Perry Christie powers his home with it, and many others throughout New Providence and outer islands are privately taking advantage of this. From the generator to the solar panel, I have notice a rise in its implementation throughout the Bahamas, & many of the ignorant are still investing in the pitbull to keep the BEC man from coming into their yard. Save your money power your own home, with little dependence on BEC or else you will continue to experience these problems year after year with the same old talks from each government blaming the other.
@Well_mudda.. The common problem with the color 'aquamarine' is that even though it is the suppose to be the actual colour on the flag, there is an elemental problem that tends to work against this. The colour 'aquamarine' has a tendency to drastically fade away in sunlight hence the reason why a darker colour may be used. This was a common problem noticed after the flag was physically made & flown within the UV spectrum. In terms of printing and other forms of implementation, persons must make sure to keep the color as 'aquamarine' or as close as possible but to simply track down every design maker and charge them before the courts about the use of 'darker blues' would be quite expensive and possibly not get anywhere but as it relates to country, we must ensure that the 'aquamarine' is used.
I don't think anything would be wrong if it is used to represent the Bahamas positively and unaltered. This lady who simply used the Coat of Arms and manipulated the elements for her own personal & financial gain is a difference. You dont really see anyone doing those sorts of things.
This always happens. I believe the last time it did was in 2013 and it was pretty serious. That business is known for massive fires & always around the same each year. Business must be booming because despite these massive fires, they are always open.
