Now the government is reaping the results of its idiotic decision not to exempt Freeport from VAT back in 2014. The constant bickering with the Port Authority has also yielded no fruit. Its ongoing entanglements with China, well, my pen could run out of ink on that one. When one compares the economy of Freeport in the 1970s and 1980s with what is there today ... maybe that country within a country speech wasn't such a good idea? It seems they changed their mind anyway, because Abaco seems to be developing a country within a country (several of them).
