"We would sell it to the young professionals for about $50,000 or less because it’s really their land. Crown land is really the people’s land, it’s not individuals, it’s the people and we just want to ensure that the people receive their land."
He just wants the people to receive their land? That is nonsense, and I just question his truthfulness here. People have been yelling and screaming about Crown Land for decades in this country. Where has he been all those years? Has he just heard about Crown Land like last week?
Nobody cares about his development and the so-called property value and whatever other high minded sounding terminology he is spouting. We just want the land.
It's so funny how they talk like they are doing something. 56 grants were given in 2019 and now an additional 24 were given. Ask a grocery store clerk if he put out on the shelf 56 bottles of ketchup in 2019 and has so far only put out 24 bottles this year 2020, would he still have his job? These people play like it takes 5 years to tie their shoelace.
Find out how much Crown Land there is (as yet unassigned), include the biggest portion of the rumored big tracts owned by the Maynard family in Andros and then divide it up evenly among all Bahamians 18 and older. Save some for expansion of airports and hospitals and such, but the biggest part needs to be shared. Put all the lots on little papers in a big hat and go down the list of names one by one and pull a paper out and say who gets what - Island Luck might let you use their live broadcast to do this.
Thank God that somebody is doing something. Bless you Mr. Beckles and my best wishes for your success. I don't know exactly what you are doing (and I don't need to know), but like I said I'm glad you're doing something. You wouldn't happen to be interested in a job as a Prime Minister eh? I've heard one may soon be opening up.
I would wager a few bucks with you Tal, but you know the wagering ain't allowed in our laws. I heard some is happen when the boys play dominos, but now you know the police be watching them domino tables cause they catch the man with a couple joints the other day while he was playing cause he did "look suspicious". Man, you can't even have a good domino these days and little weed eh? And now it look like we soon ain't gonna have no KFC to even eat. Muddo. I gats to go down near the US Embassy and catch me one Big Mac bey.
""Our airlift department and the Nassau/Paradise Island Promotion Board; the persons that focus on airlift, they are very, very concerned about it and are working assiduously to ensure sufficient airlift is in place and what we'd like to see into the destination," he told this newspaper."
That's so funny. I must commend him for his ingenuity in thinking up this excuse though. Brilliant. The reason tourists are not coming is not because of our stupid and inconvenient test/visa policies - oh no - it's because of a lack of airlift. LOL. Gotta love it. I needed that laugh today - thanks D.
"shortly after 11am on Saturday, police received a tip from an anonymous caller who told them that construction workers at the Church of the Nazarene had found the infant wrapped in a blanket."
So we are becoming as STUPID as people in the USA apparently. Over there anything that happens anywise out of the normal results in a 911 call to the police. Americans have this like an instant reflex action now.
This was clearly a medical situation. An ambulance or a doctor (if someone knew one in the neighborhood) should have been called. What were the police going to do? Put handcuffs on the infant?
Also, the responses above from Social Services tell you all you need to know to understand WHY the mother did this. Firstly, the police are looking for her (why????). Secondly Social Services does not say (or even hint) at what kind of help someone might receive if they call one of the listed numbers. It just says that there is assistance available and that it is provided free of charge. I wouldn't call those numbers, only knowing that.
People have no money. Why doesn't anyone understand that? I personally know people in Nassau who are living without food or water. I've helped what I can. They have sought help from numerous places. What was this mother supposed to feed her child?
I was impressed that the article does at least mention the possibility that it is a teenage mother who may be from an abusive family and/or may have been raped. Hopefully she will look up pregnancy stuff online and realize that the placenta needs to be removed.
Of course, no doctor can now help her with that because if it is ever found out that he/she helped her and did not report her to the police then the doctor may go to jail.
Are we living in Saudi Arabia here????????????????? Women are the lowest dogs in this country, treated worse than junk yard dogs.
" "We reached an agreement with the BHCAWU to pay one week’s Christmas bonus on December 16,.."
Most of the comments here miss the point. Again, the BMHA is simply saying that it should have been consulted prior to changes in any payment schemes. The company is here admitting it reached agreement with the BHCAWU earlier. I don't know why, knowing that they have several unions amongst their flock, they didn't invite ALL of the union reps in to ONE big meeting to discuss the issues.
BMHA is saying they can understand cost cuts, but basically saying that they can't understand anything unless they are told about it. I myself have the same problem. I can't understand a word in any book that I've never read.
My guess is it is the same as for oil. Oil will be found. Oil will be sold just like the aragonite and salt and sand and who knows what else is going on behind our backs, and they money will simply vanish.
But ... just be sure on July 10th you get out there and celebrate and jump around and dance to the music. Fun fun fun.
The article states that this has been going on since the first Christie administration. He first came to office in 2002, so that's as much as 18 years (perhaps a little less).
Dog & Pony Show is correct - for the ignorant, both here and in the USA. I had to laugh the other day when it was reported in US news that even after you get the vaccine you still have to wear a mask. LOL. Once China and Russia are vaccinated and are back to normal, they are going to get tons of good laughter and entertainment by watching the western world still walking around with their masks on.
Exactly correct. However, I applaud Moutrie for speaking positively about the problem. It is also comforting to know, as the Min of Nat Sec says, that the police have it all well in hand.
