This is nothing new. We've been doing this for years. We normally have ONE or just a few students constantly talking out of turn in class, disturbing the others, preventing them from learning.

ONE virus case preventing ALL students from learning has the same effect. Since you have the same effect, in the end you get the same results - so this is really a non-issue. Nothing to report here, stop wasting ink.

Maybe a BETTER law to amend, would be to ALLOW Bahamians to get work permits (even though we don't really need them). Just make it so that you can apply and if you indicate on the form that you are a Bahamian and you provide documents like passport etc to prove your citizenship THEN you can get a work permit.

That would be great because myself and many other poor Bahamians would be allowed to go out and build houses here and there and we can fall under the category of "...and their employers not being required to account for where they live.”

Tal, I'm with you. I'm shaking my head all kinda times (lost count). Up and down and left and right. My head even spinning. Some days I wish my head would just fall off totally so I don't even have to think about these things.

Oh let's twist again, like we did last summer. Oh let's twist again, like we did last year .....

Does it matter? We know that in 2014 we were worried about currency devaluation and so we made the VAT to pay down foreign debt. As Min. Peter Turnquest has said, that money is safely in the Consolidated Fund - so I doubt much debt paying down has occurred.

But - you know - we never believe our currency will be devalued - so he can be paid in B$ and be fine. Maybe the Target and Publix in Baltimore is take Bahamian money. It is have the Queen on it, and that crazy girl and Prince Harry are living in California - so they might accept it there too.

lol - lol - lol

My guess is that the Stupid Meter has blown a fuse, and we cannot accurately get any measurement of the whole situation.

JokeyJack says...

Good points, but I don't think accurate to say "...because we have focused only on the money..."

Nobody has focused on the money, and it wouldn't even matter if anyone did because MPs are elected for 5 years with nearly no potential for change. We have no "recall" system here like many U.S. states do. We cannot do a petition to remove an MP and force a by-election.

So after Turnquest campaigned on "Where the VAT money gone?", and then once he was in, dropped the ball and said that the VAT money was in the Consolidated Fund and that was that - there was nothing the people could do. We could have gotten a petition signed by every single person who lives in East Grand Bahama (his district) saying they wanted him removed, and nothing would happen, because there is no legal mechanism in place.

In this country, we have basically replaced the monarch with little 5 year monarchies. Once someone become PM, they would have to do something really crazy - like try to shut down all churches or something really whacky for the Cabinet to move against them. The little man is shut out of the process. You basically ink ya fingah, vote, and shut up for 5 years.

The world is changing too quickly around us, for us to have these 5 year pauses in thinking and reaction.

You people are worried about the wrong thing. Every discussion about drilling revolves around the environment. That is indeed a valid concern, however, what concerns me is how is it that the MONEY is never discussed with this venture? How many pennies on the barrel does the agreement give to Bahamians - and will it be deposited onto our NIB accounts or will be be hidden away never to be seen again inside the Consolidated Fund (a favorite place for money according to Peter Turnquest whenever he is accosted about the whereabouts of the VAT money)?

It seems as if Bahamians are like programmed robots who are so used to getting the short end of the stick, that they just respond in kind.

If you want a MUCH bigger problem to worry about - why not keep the focus on the PAC commission which has been neutered under this and the previous administration. They are now limited to only investigating reports that have been tabled in the house (so I've heard). They are charged with keeping an eye on our money - and as many of your know - that is always a tough job in this country (and in all countries). Billions have gone missing from the US Treasure (21 billion i think?)

The PAC (Public Accounts Committee) needs to be brought back to life and both Parties need to answer for why it never met in like ten years or longer (it is rumored to have never met, and i at least have never seen a report from it).

Follow the money, and upgrade from Ramen Noodles.

The PAC needs teeth and so does the Central Bank. Anyone recall the pathetic "warning letter" or "advisory letters" they sent to Bank of the Bahamas a few years back. Just ink on a paper, so at least the stationery store got something out of it.

Two articles from not long ago (but long enough to be forgotten).

Just one more example of how the churches are driving this country straight to Hell. The pastors presume the authority to even tell God what mistakes He made. There are other examples in the areas of reproductive rights, marital relationships, etc. People go every Sunday and donate money to their cause, the cause of destroying their own selves. When people will pay someone else to destroy them, well, there's not much you can do to help people like that.

"“Unfortunately, the normal institutions to deal with this thing like the House, the Senate and the courts no longer seem to be available to ordinary men and women as a means of redress and peaceful dissent is being suppressed."

That is super super funny. When were the Courts ever available to "ordinary men" Senator? You are well aware that ordinary citizens are not allowed to speak in the Supreme Court unless specifically questioned by the Judge. Citizens may not carry an action through the Supreme Court without an attorney. You can file an action, but not represent yourself. This has been the case long time, from even before Perry time.

What kind of government bars its citizens from access to the highest court (well, almost highest) in the land? I'm asking, not saying.

....and you talkin about access to the House and Senate when the Speaker of the House don't even have bathroom? Man try clean ya windshield before you drive on the road, so you can see where you going please.

Maybe government should investigate where the people who are HIRING construction companies are getting their money from? I know I can't afford to hire no company to fix my roof. Who can? How? This is leftover insurance money from Dorian? If so, then this ain't happening in Long Island and Exuma etc?

Where is the money coming from when people can't get $40 food coupon?

The famous phrase "Follow the money" should surely apply here - in spades.

So we are wanting to switch the Law of Nature from "The strong survive" to "The compliant survive" ?

I wonder if Mother Nature will go for that amendment?
