Cruise line operating the port would pose as a serious conflict of interest. They have no experience whatsoever in running a port. How about they stay in their own greedy unsanitary lane? Also, I haven't heard anything about the money hungry cruise lines investing in Bahamians. Allowing Bahamians shares in the port by Global Ports speaks volumes. They truly have the interests of our people at heart.
But I agree with everything that Mr. Raine has said in this letter. Downtown Nassau is a disgrace and I've been saying this to any politician that would listen. All the money that is spent each year on areas that are supposedly visited by Tourists and Bahamians look the same! No one can account for any of the money that is spent on nonsense. I call it nonsense because we don't build or maintain we RENT and SPEND foolishly. I'm beginning to feel that the whole look and feel of Bay street is intentional because any government can see that it is garbage and is the first place foreigners see when they arrive by boat and second thing persons see once they arrive in our country by plane.
The truth always comes to light! This kind of bribery and fraudulent behavior has been going on for years! Glad to see persons are being held accountable for their actions.
Sorry to hear about your experience, but you are right. This article hit the nail on the head! Not saying that Tourist are innocent, but Bahamians and the Government are to blame for not maintaining Bay Street. There is no reason why I should avoid having to go to Bay Street every other day because of the state it is in. Just embarrassing! It seems as though Nasty Bathrooms and its surroundings are an in thing in our country. This has to stop! Each time I've had to visit Bay Street and is in dire need to use the bathroom, I have to hold it in! I shouldn't have to hold anything in especially while visiting a "Tourist Area" like Bay Street or Festival Place.
So many women move up the chain but are only able to move so far! They just try to pacify us with mediocre titles and pointless benefits. Our salaries will never match the work we have to put in to be taken seriously.

Sounds like this man is beating around the bush. Just be straightforward and tell the truth. We the people deserve just that!

Hopefully, this creates a change on Bay street.
