Anything to report success eh Carla? Overall this is dismal and while important we must focus on adding amenities and options for our guests. Ten percent of those coming to Freeport actually leave the boat and instead of creating new activities the Port Authority licensed bars to to operate at the terminal - creating the perfect reason to skip the taxi ride to Port Lucaya
I dont see the 8 points but the FEA is a good start for eleuthera but question the availability of Government land for housing - The Government has very limited resources on Eleuthera in terms of land holdings - A few thousand acres and its in central eleuthera and better suited for hotel/resort development than for housing
Apple rules? how about apple prices then? Its hundreds more here than anywhere else and the smarter option would be to get a $50 phone and a used car -
Thank you for this KE. Seems like we are forgotten by the press and the local media is convinced that their role is that of a promotional agency - Even when there is nothing to promote. The layoffs at CBI were expected as the sub-base work for which most of the Bahamians were hired (subcontracted) is now completed but this could have been mitigated if we had the foresight to help CBI help itself and us - That would have been to initiate a training program for selected persons to understudy the welding and related API work that is continuing for the next 18 months - For now the Bahamians are out and the imported labor will continue and complete the project. We need help and we need it now!!
The Grand Bahama Power Company had an exclusive generation agreement - The idea that the new plant is a 'new company' based on having the employees sign new agreements with Emera, then its logical to me that the exclusivity is over as well - To my knowledge this benefit and concession was not transferrable and we should now use this opportunity to consider competition and the Port Authority should aggressively seek out and license independent producers and those invested in alternative energy....... Clear options in the face of this challenge for our community but then again there is still an incestuous relationship between the GBPA (Board) and Emera so we will have to wait and only hope that they will do the right thing for the benefit of industry and citizens on Grand Bahama
He should absolutely use the car - It goes with the office, as do the personal aides, the police escorts and the cash allowances. Its silly to have it sit and not be put to use. The car is appropriate and befitting of the office of Prime Minister of the Country. While we are at it we need to invest in an official residence for the Prime Minister and have a place befitting of the stature of the office and the need to have the PM host visiting dignitaries and other official events and receptions. Barbados and Jamaica made these investments decades ago and I am certain that the cost savings have been realized.
Abner complains about service when the people in South Eleuthera still dont have Cable - lol - My point simply is besides bad and sporadic service, creative ways to generate revenues thru late fees, reconnection fees, packages for everything under the sun - cb has still not lived up to it contract to provide service. The signal in Wemyss Bight has been frozen since before the olympics and the people are still waiting
