:) KPT is wise. When have we heard anyone in the previous government say that we need to cut back on overspending? The mere fact that the new government is even showing an indication to understand and pursue spending cuts makes us look better in the eyes of the IMF. Attitude of those in charge of the money counts for something as it relates to our credit rating.
There should be no further pomp or pagaentry to anything further he has to say. His window to speak was between the night of elections and before the new Prime Minister was sworn in. Sending an unsigned written statement and having others in your party speak before him is unacceptable. Out of respect for the office of the Prime Minister (the title and not necessarily the person) he owed it to us to show dignity and face us while conceding. We didn't get that. His legacy is sealed.
Starting with the auditor-general department is methodical, and allows investigations to take place while Minnis organizes the new government. Results of the auditor general should be then taken to either require criminal prosecution or a broader Royal Commission of Enquiry on more damning issues once the details have been collected. I see this as a good approach.
Price and lack of inclusion of local DJs was the main reason why the attendance was poor.
The price was $20 entrance per night (That's $40 if you go the entire weekend). You still have to pay for food and drinks. The event was on the beach, so you could still here the music even if you didn't enter the actual grounds. I saw many persons literally say "NO" and turned around when they were told the entrance fee. I need to confirm, but it wasn't $20 in the past.
Secondly there was a message floating around Freeport via WhatsApp encouraging persons to boycott because there was no representation by local DJs or local tech support. All persons were brought in from Nassau.
It seems the low turnout was mainly due to the Committee's disconnect with the local Freeport crowd (have to understanding your price point, and include the local help).
Hey Reality Check...IF the FNM wins, something will have to be done to address the deficit. Undoubtedly Minnis would need to rely on the strengths of his time to assist him on that since his expertise isn't in Finance. If I compare the teams of the FNM vs PLP vs DNA...it seems FNM has the strongest group of financial/economic experts on the ticket (marginally).......soooooooo even if that rumor was said....it's unlikely it will go into practice. Signed..----> a still undecided voter trying to focus on the facts in order to make a decision
Why is the budget for the Office of the Prime Minister quadrupled? What exactly has happened since the initial passing of the budget to cause a significant functional requirement of the Office of the Prime Minister beyond the Offices of each functioning Ministry? #AskIngForAFriend #AFriendRegisteredtoVote
