Personal belief, guts and instincts that one group is superior to another, aka prejudice? If anything was clear it's your ignorance and hypocrisy. The true crabs are the mass numbers of illegals who bombard a much smaller country and strain "free" resources without concern and those who aid them.

I personally see nothing wrong with any Bahamian of any ancestry taking part in politics. However, if the documents circulating on social media was sufficient in validating a birth occurred in Bahamas, it highlights a serious flaw. Any Bahamian, including Mr. Campbell, should not be opposed to preventing future citizenship fraud...unless Bahamas is not their priority. If challenging what appears to be fraudulent documents by a Parlianmentarian is forbidden by law or has a statute of limitations, please feel free to post that section of the constitution. At least it's based in fact and not emotional beliefs.

When is it ever wrong for citizens to question those in power, especially when it comes to issues that resemble fraud and undermining the constitution? It seems we want accountability unless it involves political favorites. If anything we should be lauding the democratic process of our great country (not Mr.Campbell's personal achievements). Even Haiti protected the integrity of its political office by disqualifying the dual passport holder and wife of Martelli from running for office. Why is it wrong and "hate filled" to ensure the same for the Bahamas?

And please let me know how you have determined Haitians to be superior to Bahamians in work ethic & education. Your comments are anecdotal at best. There are legitimate concerns about the non existent border between Haiti and Bahamas. How do you expect citizens to respond to an issue with no end in sight? Or leaders with no concern for stopping it or a development plan to facilitate? It's frustration, not hate and it's a worldwide problem. Bahamians are reacting no different from natives of other countries experiencing this trend. Your rant was disgusting not to mention hypocritical.

I don't think anyone thinks he or the immigration minister would actually review applications. The minister already admitted to blindly signing off on permits to clear backlog. And implied that a simple email from him would override legal policies on school permits. Imagine if one of his employees boldly told him they hired staff and signed contracts with vendors without performing their due dillegence. I think he'd fire them regardless of backlog. Likewise he should not be so dismissive of his bosses (the public). These politicians really need to understand what public service means.

My2cents says...

Why? You made the claim. I'm sure they contributed to the wealth of construction bosses and others...but that's just a few individuals. This does not equate to nation building and resulting entitlements as the PM suggested.

This is an argument I hear often, so please enlighten me on how illegal immigrants contribute. And does it surpass what is spent on maintaining them? Also let's not confuse generational Bahamians with Haitian surnames with the likes of Ms Jean and Louby Georges who would sabotage elections to ensure illegal Haitians/Haitians are satisfied.

There is something undignified about the Bahamian prime minister responding to threats by the Haitian community on behalf of illegals.Their real concern is evident. I guess Ms. Jean was correct in her message and approach. Clearly the Bahamas is not about Bahamians.

At the very least Minnis' speech should have been two pronged: addressing his love /compassion for the Haitian community while assuring Bahamians that illegal aiders will be prosecuted. And that anchor baby mamas will not be accomodated. Instead he makes them feel even more entitled to the Bahamas. I never knew working to provide for ones family, sending most of the earnings abroad and living and spending in a sub economy was somehow building the country.

His heritage has been publicly known for quite sometime. He served in a diplomatic role to Haiti because of it. His "two passports" response to his heritage is what called his citizenship into question. Apparaently they asked the right (or wrong) person and this is how he got here.

When have they ever considered "funding"; for anything? This sounds like an excuse to do nothing...as usual.

My2cents says...

@Deddie please stop. These are generational Bahamians with acknowledged Haitian ancestry. Most are proud Bahamians who do not speak creole, have no existing connections to Haiti or would threaten to throw elections if illegal Haitians are not accomodated. Stop spinning fantasies as if they are the same as the illegal landers and offspring who still have a legal right to a Haitian passport. The Bahamas really needs to rethink giving away citizenship to people who think Haiti is/should be a priority...this is the thanks it gets.

Their selective concern for the law is disgusting. When both ministers expressed bypassing laws and standard procedures in order to ensure kids are educated, to fast track permits, residency and citizenship applications they were silent. It seems they also expected amnesty for their illegal kin.

They don't even hide the fact that their voting is based strictly on who is best for Haitians/Haiti. And still the government is blindly granting more approvals to regularise these selfish economic refugees. I wouldnt be surprised if both ministers respond to this threat with an apology.
